yesterday i removed the rear subframe, 2 hours from start to finish, all heel board bolts came straight out and not a spot of rust on the threads.
rear mounts bolts were solid, had to snap 3 of them to get off.
spent the rest of the day stripping the bits off the frame and cleaning them up and stripping the rust off and priming and painting them, next job today reassemble the new/second hand subby (ebay buy, £9) then cut out 3 areas in the boot floor and weld patches in and then decide if to replace the wheel arch or patch it.

I got my rear cones & trumpets replaced with some shiny new Hi-Lo's - it's been a work in progress for some time but once I'd got the technique down, it wasn't such a long job after all!

Had quite a good day on the mini today and got a fair few jobs done.
Replaced the passenger side driveshaft and inner cv joint. Seems to have cured (fingers crossed) the annoying clunk that I was
getting when drive was taken up. Replaced both gaiters, reshimmed the ball joints, regreased everything. While I was at it I finally fitted
my slotted discs and EBC Black Stuff pads that have been sat in the shed since I broke my old mini up.
Fitted my chromed gearbox steady on the passenger side but forgot to take a picture While i was doing this I thought Ill just check the bolts on the
other steady. Good job I did as the bolts that hold the bracket on had somehow worked loose and was rattling around a fair bit so sorted that out while I was
underneath. Gave the exhaust a coat of hi-temp paint although this was more to do with using the can up than the exhaust needing paint.
Fitted my chrome servo bolt that I have had since last October
Fitted my stainless door plates that I got from Smiffys Bits in the post.
The old crusty ones. These were only two years old believe it or not.
Old vs new.
Nice new shiny bits in place.
Found and refitted the little black plastic end piece that fell off my doors outer weather strip.
Still got plenty left to do but you have got to save something for another day hehe

I had one of those days today where you start a very simple job that should only take 20 mins max and ends up taking three hours. Started off by deciding to have a look at the top steering column bush as it had become displaced. Ended up replacing both steering column bushes, the indicator/wiper arms unit, and having the steering wheel on and off about eight times before it was straight. Plus it was raining. Not proper heavy rain but that boring cant be bothered to rain properly drizzle that soaks you right through.
I should have stayed indoors today.........
