Finally got round to fitting the new wheels. Being a girl, I decided I didn't like them and reverted back to original. Will get them up on e-bay when i get the time.

Drove mini to the pub and sat outside with a lemonade watching pub goers admiring the car.

what rims are the new ones? ;D

They just stick out beyond my arches a little bit too much for my liking

Dropped on new rocker cover. Put on new HT leads (red ones so good for another 5bhp).

Finished up under the bonnet wiring, closed up the loom and covered.

Sorted out broken fog light switch wiring.

Did a full electrics test and everything is working as it should. Yay, finally.

Fitted my homemade parcel shelf cover and fixed in the rear seat base and back. Seats were never fixed down when we got it, so thought it best to actually do it as MoT next week.

Got the car up to temperature then setup the carb. Was running a little lean as suspected. Running an AAT needle just now and will for the MoT, but have an AAU and AAA to try afterwards.

Tomorrow is fitting the rest of the interior including dash, upper and lower dash rail covers, door cards and then new carpets (not looking forward to that bit).

Cheers

Ian

I loaded the remains of my project shell on to a trailer. Will be making its way to its new workshop tomorrow to be followed by my Grey Fergie tractor. Will post pics when I get it in the unit.

Fitted newly recovered top and bottom dash rails. Then fitted my homemade dashboard that I'm not 100% happy with. Not even sure I actually got the speedo reconnected until a road test.

Got new door and rear cards fitted and new alloy handle set fitted too. Really liking the Optimise Automotive stuff, really fits well.

Then got all the underlay pieces in and fixed down. Then got all the carpet in. My freaking knees!!! Carpet burns. But looks really good. Impressed for a set of carpet/underlay from eBay for about £45.

Ran out of light.

So just need to bolt the repainted seat brackets back on, then the front seats. Stick tax disc holder back on. Fit new bonnet pins. Sort drivers side side light (again!?) and she'll be ready for the MoT a week today.

Cheers

Ian

Yesterday took Mable for a run to see Colin at Southam's, she's now running as sweet as a nut, so today it would have been rude not to take her for another spin in the sunshine! :shades:

MOT passed, sailed straight through. I watched as he did it and for some reason he didn't do an emissions test. I didn't mention anything, just took the certificate and left as quick as i could.

Got the freshly arrived very low ohmage coil on for the electronic dizzy and onto 12v.

Finished fitting the interior carpets mats and front seat brackets and seats in. Got all the contents back in, e.g. Refitted tax disc holder, air freshener, Esso blue hanger, picnic blanket and AA card :-)

Topped up fluids. Double checked everything was tightened/torqued up (lots of stuff was off the car these past three weeks).

Car fired straight up, new battery cable has made a big difference to starting.

Warmed her up, checked for leaks, did a basic carb setup.

Then panicked when the boot mounted fuel pump started making hideous noises and pre carb fuel filter was almost just air. Of course, low on fuel, was when it came off the road three weeks ago, and a few static runs since. Luckily, the garage is 300yards away and downhill. We made it.

Fuelled and took it for a blast. Very smooth, good pickup, no stutters, no funny smells. Crikey, must have not screwed anything up.

Got home and the reverse light switch shorted on the exhaust, blew the fuse. Typical. ;-)

Sun was still up so it got wash (three weeks of dust).

Cheers

Ian

Cleared half a tree's worth of blossom off of it... pointless, because the other half will drop on it tonight.
But at least it looks good for a couple of hours at least... :shades:

Then fired it up, waited for it to warm up.. then scorn at the random idle it's developed.  Now waiting (and hoping) for decent weather over the weekend, so I can address possible air leak issues!
