Started prodding - oh dear

New heater matrix and tried to get to the bottom of my indicator / hazard light faults with. No luck what's so ever and not enough post to post in electrical section !! Aaahhhhhhhh bloody indicators who need them anyway

In the middle of a soundproofing and new carpet job. Didn't have much time today, but decided to run the accelerator peddle over a few buffing wheels before sticking it back in. Pleased with the result.

Started the prodding for the MoT.... wish I hadnt started...

 

So far, started Friday...

 

Discovered me Mini needs a new floor, outer sill, innersill on O/S.... patched up on Saturday...

 

Looked at N/S... exactly the same but a lot worse.... bugger...!!.. patched up/replaced half the floor on passenger side and half way up the innersill.... outersill also got a patch on it too...

 

Once me Mini has its MoT I'll be ordering and fitting a new floor, innersill, outersill and both doorsteps along with the heal board too...

 

Why did Mini's have rust as an unoptional extra at the factory....?

Broke it
Hit something and broke my exhaust at the little but of flexi pipe straight after the headers meet the rest of the system. was a rather loud 5 minutes reversing home down a country lane with hazzards on..

Prodded some more and tried to convince myself that I didn't need new sills. I was wrong, drivers side is off. Quite please as I un-stitched it and the majority of the inner is good with just a repair to the front floor section needed.

Tried to underseal the new metal... for some reason the aerosol didnt want to spray its contents.... bugger....!!!

Found some rot in the front floors along the bottom of the toe board and along the outside edge. Un-picked the spot welds on the toe board and was very pleased to find it was only the floor edge that was rotten, the return on the toe board is pretty good - except for the holes I drilled through and a bit of cutting disc damage

Picked up a bargain pair of sills from a very nice chap who is a member on here  Then started un-picking all the spot welds on the sill to doorstep/body flange - blimey how many spot welds do you need

Put the interior back in.....

 

Spray glue gets ruddy everywhere, even on the parts you mask off too.....

 

Properly installed the seats I bought not that long ago, didnt realise how solid they could be fitted but theyre bloody cumfy....

Eeeeek! That's how my first resto started, poked the sills and off it went, full blown resto 😜

I knew it needed welding for this times MoT but didnt realise how bad it had got...

 

I now know it needs floors both sides and inner and outer sills too.....
