1. Get some mesh - dosnt matter how wide the gaps are, but i wouldnt recommend any wider than mine, could become difficult to fix to the frame.
2. Lay the mesh over the grille frame and cut roughly to shape using tin snips (quicker imo)
3. make sure the mesh is flat to the frame, and cut out accurately
4. I think youll have to paint it black, havent seen any cheap coloured mesh - I used Hammerite metal paint for mine (dries shiny

5. The easyest way I found to put mine all together was to do it on the mini, so:
------1. Rivet or screw the frame to the front panel - only 2 or 3 rivets/screws at this point (some mounting points need to be used for both the frame and the mesh)
------2. Mount the cut and painted mesh onto the frame, and secure it with more rivets, and finish securing the frame to the front panel
------3. Mount the chrome trim ontop of the mesh, this hides any untidy and sharp edges
Ill go and take some closeups of the edges tomorrow, thatll show how i did it clearer

Hope that helps

Go for it! Took me about an hour and a half, not including paint-drying time. Just need a dizzy cover/guard now, electrics might go mental otherwise

I realised that..... after the grille was donethe only problem i can see with rivetting the mesh on, is when you need to get to the dizzy/oil filter/starter/fanbelt, it wont be easy! especially at the side of the road. looks great and really suits your mini by the way, nice stripes as well!

I may make the mesh removable, so i dont have to take the whole grille off in an emergancy.
