Do i acid etch then use high build primer? im doing a boot lid that has been bare metaled it seems to have had a few repairs

also what grade should i use to sand filler without making groves that will be visable?

Bare metal should be always covered with etch primer, this can then be overpainted with high build.

Make sure the two(well 3 with the top coat) are compatible.

To be sure get the paint from the same supplier.

Also if doing filler repairs do these BEFORE applying any paint(onto bare metal)

Etch primer first, then high build. I would use 320 to finish the filler sanding.

I'd go with what shifty said, filler then etch primer

right ok have skimed the places it needed with a little filler and have sanded back i have acid etched it then used the high build primer do i now just sand back with 1200 grit?

Also the tahiti paint recomends grey primer so would it be best to apply a coat of grey before paint as the high build is beige or will 3 coats of primer be too much?

cheers in advance

Hi,i would take back with 800,but spray a dark guide coat to make sure you get it all properly flatted before top coat, roughly three coats of your colour, then if using lacquer 1 dust coat before 2 proper coats, then leave to harden for a few days before wet flatting with 1200 then a polish and wax :D
