i really like the result, what do you think? i like how much extra room there is, and i quite like the shape of the metal bulkhead.
has anyone else done this and kept it like that?
youll have to ignore the wires and obviously the switches would need to be moved back

i have just taken my dash out of the car, then i took the top and bottom rails off of the bulkhead.

I like Minis without the top dash rail, it seems more open and bigger, one of the reasons ive converted to a Centre Speedo

I gave up with trying to get my replacement dash rail to fit, it was the left over one from stupidly giving the ex my decent one for hers. So instead I just welding in a spare chrome switch panel into the lower panel and smoother it all in, as I say it’s not all finished just yet, but gives you an idea.

what have you done with the heater-to-screen pipes, have u got rid of them or have u extended them and put them around the side?

No padding on upper or lower dash rail, just a centre speedo (and possibly without the air vents, also)
Cheers,

in the top picture (i.e the far away one), those switches looks the nads!!!

Thanks, I would really like to splash on some new switches, but can’t afford much at the mo and those ones work.
The heater to screen vents and pipes will be going back in as standard behind the dash, it’s just easier at the mo without them as I’m still playing around with the fit of the dash etc as it's a home made item.

Theres 3 nuts you need to undo on the underside of the top dash rail. Take those off and then you will have to wiggle and lift off one end, then lift out the other two to remove the dash rail as one piece. You may end up bending the bolts but thats ok if youre not going to use it again.
Good luck.
