Hi all

I want to fit a dummy filer neck to my Minus so it has the 'twin' tank looks.

Is there any trick people know of as to how to drill the hole in the correct position? i.e. do you take measurements or just guess?

Cheers

Russ

i always thought they were a stick on thing. if you were to drill a hold for it, in the right place aswell, then why not put a tank in there

The extra cost of the tank & fittings?? The loss of boot space with an extra tank?? The fact that you don't actually want or need an extra tank??

hahah yes sorry, I presumed you needed to drill a hole for the filler neck?

RH tanks are very expensive plus it will be a track/fun car so is likely to have a small ally tank put in. I just want the filler neck/cap to give it that kind of retro rally look.

Has anyone fitted one?

I fitted one to mine as I wanted the twin tank look but couldn't justify the cost of a r/hand tank

I measured mine carefully before drilling the holes.

May not be to everyone's taste but each to their own.

Let me know if you need some measurements

Yes I'd like the measurements please!! I had absolutely no interest in fitting a dummy filler neck or second tank, but having seen the picture of your car NOW I WANT ONE!!

what about this novel idea, since i cant stand stuff being stuck on a car that has no purpose. plumb the dummy filler into the left hand tank, would be a bit of work to get it right but at least itll be functional, plus you can use any side when filling up at the petrol station.

Why don't you make a paper template from the position of the real filler neck and then turn the paper over to mirror its position on the opposite side?

Ah good idea!

I might try that, although Minus doesn't have any seams so may be a tad tricky. I could take a reference from the boot aperture though.

The tank I may use might be a Metro unit if it fits, so the boot will need opening to fill up anyway, in effect both necks will be dummies.

I realise not everyone likes this but I do not want the original petrol tank in there as its a pig to remove the damper. As the car is intended for fun/performance i'm not too fussed about this as its likely i'll need to remove the dampers etc sooner or later.

Cheers

R

If your thinking of putting a small alloy tank in the boot, could you not connect both of these filler necks up to that when you get it, so they will both be functional and you wont have to open the boot to fill up?
