I really like this, i think im going to have to build one.

Is it really just any old single speed bike that you use for the base of these bikes? Are some makes more suitable than others?

Looks great! I like the colour. I bought this last weekend.. :)

Thanks buddy, love the look of your find! Dyno lights rule!
So we'll be seeing a new topic up here soon then!? :) Look forward to that!

Hmm maybe not a thread, it's a little too small for me so my girlfriend is going to ride it. It's currently at my local bike shop having some cables custom made, bits for vintage bikes aren't easy to come by! I might get some bits re chromed, otherwise I love the patina and the originality so it's staying that way I'm afraid :ermm:

That saddle looks excruciating :)

How much was the powder coating?

Any old frame will do but make sure its got horizontal rear drop outs as these make changing the chain tension so much easier. I would definitely try to find an old raleigh frame or triumph, something british, as parts for these are relatively easy to come by at your local bike shop! I'm having an absolute nightmare trying to find something which will form a bottom bracket/ bearings on this german frame.

Looks great! I like the colour. I bought this last weekend.. :genius:

Sounds great! I still love that dyno light that's on it. I'm gonna have to look into getting one for those winter nights! ^_^

umm, yes its a little uncomfortable ;) but I've been reassured that I just need to wear it in a bit more!
powdercoating was done by future coatings in portsmouth for 50 quid. not bad considering they did it twice! (first time something caused the coating to bubble along the top tube).

Thanks for looking peeps!

This is very cool. You can even find old bikes like these thrown in skips and rubbish heaps. I have seen a few but never thought of doing anything with them daaarn!

Keep up the cool work, looks amazing. I do prefer straight forks but this is super good.

Thanks dude, i'm getting there! I see bikes all the time in skips now and kinda wish i'd had a little patience and grabbed one instead of buying this one!

Anyway a small update: met a guy at the weekend, after trekking around pompey to various bike shops, who thinks he can make me some custom cups to reveive a spanish bottom bracket.
the difficulty i've had has been that this frame was a 50 german model and obv. built in imperial measurements. its also an odd size for conventional bottom brackets to fit. So that is the plan so far get this kind fellow to make me two cups to the 40mm inner diameter of the tube in 1.5mm alu or stainless steel to fit the 37mm OD of the bearings of a 'spanish' bottom bracket, more commonly used on BMX's.

might be getting somewhere now...

That light set will look cracking, good news on the BB cups too. Lets hope all goes well dude!

Not entirely sure what i want to do with mine yet, waiting for the guy to get back from holiday so i can go collect it. Can't wait to get stuck in though!

Thinking it'll be fairly similar to yours with the Deep V's, bent forks and a light colored frame/fork though/

Gonna go for some riser bar,s around +30mm if i can, along with a mtb/freeride style stem (got a few somewhere, lets hope i can find them )

Not sure what to do with the fenders and chainguard though!

cheers dude... the light is now visible at the end of what seems like an extremely over-extended tunnel!

new bits arrived today! Gusset spanish bottom bracket came through and i've already dropped it round at the guys house whos making my bearing cups which is now the final piece to the puzzle! everything i need is sitting in my living room waiting for the cups to be ready and then i can build and ride! So heres the final bits minus the bottom bracket:
