I don't know myself, but someone might be able to help you in the Early Minis section of the Specialist Mini Forums. It's Membership by Approval, but once you're in there are loads of helpful people on there and lots of them are anoraks so they may be able to help you

EDIT by the way just seen where you are, we're moving there (fingers crossed!) after Christmas!

My Mk1 racer has a smaller back window which some people dont realise. Has it got a floor mounted push button start?

Hi, I'm new here very nice forum you have.
Thought I would try and briefly help you out
This is my MK1. The easy to spot differences are:

Small rear lights
Hinged rear numberplate.
Externally hinged doors with a curve at the bottom front edge.
Sliding windows
Smaller rear window (difficult to check unless you can compare on the spot)

Look at the pic below that should give you an idea.

There are lots of differences to tell a cooper S from a normal MK1 but you will have to ask someone more knowledgeable sorry!

Mk1 1959 >1967/68
Mk2 1967/68 >1969 I think!

I think £1600 is a very good price for any MK1 in the described condition. Even if it doesn’t turn out to be a Cooper S I would think of buying it anyway.

IMHO Mk1 are the coolest minis around.
