Yeah :dontgetit: I definitely wouldn't try any Tetras unless you have cycled though. "new tank syndrome" is a well known phrase in fish keeping. Tetras have small chance of survival in a tank that isnt cycled.

Get Mollys as well there good but prone to white spot disease, altho they breed like hell you end up with swarms (or proper terms showles) of littel black and white fish in your tank

Get a plec save you some time on cleaning that algie

Neon tetras ect.. live for ever

I had a figure of 8 puffer fish that i loved, but sadly dident get along with the other fish and died :dontgetit:

(I cant spell and stuff you get what i mean thow) - only saying this so the punctuation police on the forum dont have a go.

Yeah thats a good suggestion. Always have a bottle of methlyene blue on stand by incase you do get white spot. Its not uncommon, especially if you dont quarantine new fish.

The tank will still take at least a month to cycle with bacterlife. Just don't add too many fish yet. You can cycle with a certain amount of fish, but after 2 days you will see the levels start to spyke suddenly, this could kill sensitive fish alone.

Interesting Tropical Fish Craig is right.I made a few honest mistakes with my last go a plant killed them all with no chem. fix. There are so many dif. fish wag tailed Guppys are very nice to have.I would put a Cat fish gravel feeder in first they help loads on the bottom.Neons are great but you add them later about five they all stick together.O. Garms a pair fit in well.Sord fish in a pair can fit in also can get nasty Norm the black tailed mail they can also get very big.
One fish i liked was the Oscs Cold water and the Prs.The oscs could scratch glass with there Razer Blade Mouth on an attack no hands in tank they were Big One could take a hand off. :dontgetit:

The Guppys are Great Fish to enjoy if you get things right they also breed very well but you have to divide them away from all others till they get bigger i have a thing about the plants one killed my fish with germs on it.Get a gravel feeder to that just does its own thing and helps a tank loads.A good filter is a must and a quality Pump the outside Systems are best but cost a Lot to buy secound hand can be a good buy when you want one Clean the gravel loads first and soak it in a bucket for a few days .hope you do well with this new hobby.

Most people will disagree but I don't think such extreme cycling is needed.

My tank is a 120L tropical tank. Before I added any fish I had the tank running for about a week with no cycling. Just had some plants in there with the filter and heater on to make sure everything worked ok, as it was bought 2nd hand.

I added 2 angel fish and had them for a couple of weeks before slowly adding a couple more fish every couple of weeks for a few weeks.

My tank has been going for years now and i've had no major disasters with fish dying, disease algae etc.

I change about a third of the water every couple of weeks, clean the gravel abit and clean the filter out every 6 weeks or so using tap water.

The fish are happy enough, lively, eat well and have even tryed breeding and laying eggs.

Tropical fish are really not as fussy as people think and all this silly cycling for 6 weeks is just unrealistic IMO. All I would say is needed is to build up the fish collection abit slower than normal. Maybe if you plan to go to the fish shop - Buy half the fish in there and slap them in your tank full of tap water, you might have problems, but otherwise its fine.

well above as you said they are all well and you have had them years so you must have a good Tank.My mother did well for years with the same style of keeping her large tank it was my dads but she took over it.She would put water in a container for about a week ready to change about half the Tank ever few Weeks. It was many years ago so the equipment was very basic for Tanks. She would clean the gravel with a tube to suck the muck up into a bucket on the floor.Thought your joke is funny about buying half a shop of fish you would have to tread them in the tank like grapes then top up with boiling water.Had a laugh years ago going in a Shop and asking for White Spotted Wag Tails like you always sell. :dontgetit:
