13 years ive kept tropical fish and still learning. my current tank 300L cleaned by an exturnal filter system.

pictures are off my phone so not very good but as you can see, its a tank, it holds water and theres fish in there.
ive put up differant lighting and differant things in the tank some green some rock, to give some ideas of what or how to go. i change mine depening on the sort of fish i decided to keep at that time.

you might find your plants wont last. it taken me years to get plants to grow in my tanks. never got them to grow in small stones but ive got them to grow in sand. the best i found of growing them was on bog wood with a small tie around the plant to keep it on the wood for acouple of months till the plant takes hold. time will tell you might be lucker than myself with that.

If you also wanted to have a go at growing plants i would get a seperate Tank for a try.If it went well you could also sell some.Keep an eye on Snails.Take great care with all the chemicals you use.
Now this Thread is Swimming Along i would like another go with fish something nice to watch by the PC etc...
Since i have had my new PC and large screen it never gets switched off.

Velvet Disease.
Raise water temp.
Dim lights a few days
Add Aquarium Salt
Treat with Coppersulphate for 10 Days
Switch Carbon Filtration OFF during Treatment
Good Luck

to grow plants well you will need a good amount of light for example my tank is 22Gallons and i have 72Watts of light over mine and the plants go mental. I have CO2 diffusing into the tank, substrate fertilizer(gravel that contains nutrient's for plants) and liquid fertilizers when i remember to put them in haha, i will get a photo of my tank for you

I`ve got a 180 litre tropical tank in my room with just your general tetras, mollies, a plec and another kind of cat fish kind of thing which I can`t remember the name of. A did have a bala shark which grew to about 6 inches long but he unfortunately died earlier this year :) He was ace but my god so scared of anything, heard him trying to jump out of the tank numerous times in the middle of the night :mmkay:

Just scanning though the thread reading about new tank syndrome and cycling. I just put a few neons in after a couple of days of the the tank being set up then did 1/3 water changes every couple of days and never had any problems.

I`ll get a marine tank one day when I have the time.
