Wots actually wrong with the car anyway?

problem with the electrics...

thinking the only way to get the car back is drive over with new parts, fix it and drive back, but with short notice ferry crossings and hotel bills its an added cost that had hoped to have been avoided by getting european break down cover :)

I reckon that's your best bet... go back over there with a coil pack, crank sensor, ECU etc etc and fix at location.. Or just tow it home with a dolly etc.

i think thast what theyve decided, jsut to fix on the spot or atleast try.....

cant tow on dolly as the car can only tow 600kg unless the trailor has brakes.... the car alone weights 800kg + the weight of the dolly

you cant be competitive on the ring (so they say) arent they really ******* about any timing? as in u get thrown off site if ur caught. i think the clause alot of people put on the insurance stuff is worded something like "one way public toll road" of which, the ring is the only one as far as im aware.

can you keep us posted :) i want to go over at some point when i have the cash and wouldnt want such a thing happening to me

Not suggesting you do anything 'illegal' but if it's a case of getting the Rallye back or losing it forever, I'd not worry about it being slightly over the weight for the tow car..
Take it easy, make sure the light board is present and correct and get the car home!

Both a dolly and a vehicle trailor that tilts etc so you can drive a car on....

and Boycie.... though that seems simple and easy enough, if caught.... it can pose nice fines and points, which isn't good when the person who would be towing it has 6 points.... and is a lorry driver for a living so cant really risk losing his license....

The other thing also... my parents/brothers etc were to drive back over there to get smoeone to tow it they may aswell give it a go of fixing it whilst there, whcih is the current plan, though expensive... its the only way to get it back atm....

Im sure if they cant fix it for whatever reason whilst they are there then itl be easier to find someone wholl take it to the ferry whilst at the ring rather than finding someone online from england....

The other thing being once its in England.... RAC will tow it home, so getting it on a ferry is the main issue as if it breaks down after that then itll get a lift home

Hire a transit and tow it back with that. I know loads of places that hire vans with tow hooks.

PM me if you need some numbers for them

It shouldn't matter whether you've been on the 'ring or not, the car broke down at the hotel, events leading up to it have no bearing on that, if you broke down on the motorway between germany and belgium on the way back and they checked and saw the pics after would they still try the same thing? Some companies can make you laugh!

Im sure if they cant fix it for whatever reason whilst they are there then itl be easier to find someone wholl take it to the ferry whilst at the ring

Even if they can't fix it there will be somewhere over there that can, theres quite a few garages that could sort the problem, getting most parts aint a problem, they could ask at some of the motor shops in town, they'll know, theres a mini one they could ask first :shifty:

And do you know how much storage costs your raking up?

hello,
i once went on shiply not to long ago to get a rolling shell of a car here with m in belguim, it neede to come from the uk aswell, and they quoted me around 400 pounds wich i think is not to bed considering ferry prices and fuel prices, you could alway try that aswell, get someone to go and pick it up and bring home like that....
