I thought the basic one is the poo one? I'm sure one of them has a 500km recovery? Would be enough to get it back to our shores at least?

adac cover is B***S***! Ask stig. They will only recover 15miles! on that policy. And I still have it, because i cancelled it after the stig episode and they have T&C's in german ofcourse, that say you have to give a years notice! So I had to pay again too.

Where did you take the contract out (over the phone/ t'interweb counts as a your house)? See above about unfair terms, flogging someone summet on the basis of terms they can't understand 'because it's foreign seems to fit the bill.

Why should you expect a German company, based in Germany to deal with you in English when you speak with them on a German phone line though? When we had ADAC it was slightly irritating that everything is in German, but completely understandable.

There's no point getting ADAC, they used to be the only company who would recover from the 'Ring but they don't any more. There is now no option other than the 'Ring's own recovery. 500Km won't reach the UK, no. That's why it's not worth it. 500Km will get you to Paris. We don't bother with ADAC any more because of this, a UK recovery firm with Europe wide cover is at least obliged to get you home (as long as they accept the value of your car).

To be fair if you decide to go round a race track (which the 'ring is) and it's against the insurance / breakdown policy, then you've only yourself to blame.

How about you just leave it there as it's only a Peugeot?

Anyways, I see from the RAC forum that an "agreement" has been made anyway!

wow thats helpful! sure it was said it broke off the ring in the hotel anyhow, of course when your at a hotel at the ring i doubt many would believe you it was an off track affair.
And as for being only a peugeot real mature, im guessing you dont know anything about this persons car, it could be something special anyhow, i know someones peugeot 205 (an old car too) which is probably at least £30,000 more expensive than your mini...you wouldnt be happy if he came along and said your cars only a mini, leave it there.

I don't understand what munkey26 is bringing up here, the peugeot issue has been solved (please read thread throughout) and no-one is asking about insurance (please read thread throughout!) as mini93 said, leave it there

My one relates to recovery, getting the car off the track and back home in a worst case scenario. Lizard logistics is a good back up so I'm guessing you pay the recovery truck then the lizards to get it home?

Insurance side of things thats down to you and your policy, I won't comment on that. Unfortunately if you end up taking some of the barriers out then of course you cough up, but you can get insurance for track damage only it aint cheap but its doable, check out http://www.nurburgmo.../Insurance.html

No-one goes to get into an accident, go as slow as you want it doesn't mean your safe as it does happen whether its your fault or not? You need to think beforehand about certain things so you don't get caught with your pants down out there

Dan - I've got agreed value on mine anyway, and my AA route planner is showing 484km (via E40) from nurburg to calais? I don't mind them dumping it on our land but not the sea!

Question: If the only recovery off the Ring is their own firm, and a car breaks down at your hotel, then surely you can prove it DIDN'T break down on the Ring as there was no recovery by the Ring firm? Or am I missing something?

Ah but given that the 'Ring recovery costs something like €180 or more, people do try to limp their car off in whatever condition it ends up before the marshalls send the truck to them.

Kam - make sure your recovery firm accept your agreed value and understand what it mean before you leave. As you have agreed value insurance, the recovery firm will take that value (at least RAC and AA do, don't know about ADAC). If you don't tell them before you leave, you will have to fight with them if you need recovery. They don't normally want to pay more than book value for total recovery costs. 500 km got Stig to Dover, it might for you too. He had a real fight to get any further. The ports are right on the edge of the range, are you using Calais this year rather than Dunkirk? It depends on what route ADAC decide to drive, you can't dictate that to them. They work like AA relay so they swap you from one truck to another in motorway service stations, they have to drive to where the next truck is waiting. It might work out and it might be a fight, but UK based recovery will definitely get you home if they accept the value of your car.

Careful with the AA relay, they didn't swap me from one truck to another, we were dumped off in the middle of the road at the dock causing absolute havoc! There was nobody there at the dock from the AA to put us onto the ferry, luckily P&O got the car onto the ship with their pickup and the AA drove onto the ferry to pick us up at Dover.

just to set the record straight as my name is being used as a example

i took out adac cover as was told was good ,not so

when i took out the cover i asked if it covered me to get me home if i broke down was told it did what a lie

when the car broke down in dover on the return journey i got recovered after about a hour by a local breakdown firm, only then to be left to sort out somewhere to stay overnight while they decided if they where going to recover me home luckly AL put me up for the night

nexted day at 1pm they decided they would recover me a AA truck picked me up where i was informed they would only take me as far as rugby despite living in hull at the time

the 3 AA trucks later i was left in rugby with another 120 miles to get back to hull ,cant fault the AA each driver phoned their manager saying it was stupid but got told that ADAC would not cover the costs

had not taken out the cheap cover but the european cover etc, then when i need recovery got told only got 500 euros worth of recovery never told me that on the phone and as al said evething is in germany when your policy turns up weeks later

i also broke down in 07 in the mini had insurance and breakdown with adrain flux with a agreed value of £1500 on the mini

when engine gave up on way there they arranged a hire car for 5 days, flew me and jammy home all for £46 of cover and car was back in the uk within 2 weeks
