Well, have been doing some thinking and have finally done some work on the mini!!

Been a bit busy these last two weeks with getting into uni and then scraping into halls for the first year!!

Soo, this is the damage in pictures:

and heres a vid! As my exhaust has come loose it now sounds like a dragster/tractor/car-with-no-exhaust....

Anyway, the plan is to strip it down over a year (maybe/most probably longer) and turn it into a track day car.

I am unsure as yet of what engine to use and of course there will be lots of questions as I attempt a nut and bolt (sort of... :) ) rebuild!

tucked away for the night...

I've got over it now. (Just... :) ) Looking forward to learning about it so much more. Stripping it down and then rebuilding it hopefully!!

When I first got it it seemed to be in such nice condition that I didn't want to touch it! But now I just want to get straight in!! Any ideas for track day engines?

Are you wanting to keep the A series or convert?

Open minded really. I've heard that it is quite expensive to go fast in an A series, in comparison to conversions... is that true?

It depends how fast you want to go really. You could always build a fast road a series and move onto a conversion further down the line if you think you are lacking in pace.

I don't think so really, the actual inital cost of the vtec or vaux or what ever engine you buy might be cheap, but by the time you've brought a subframe, throttle bodies, manifolds, looms, ECUs etc it's probably the price of a all singing all dancing a-series, that you could drop straight in, in the same day (obiously when it's built). If you go a-series turbo you can easily end up with more power than alot of the engine conversions.

So, just for some suggestions then, feel free to add any more or tell me to cross some off the list!

A Series

Supercharged and highly tuned 998
1275 with mods such as Weber carbs
1330/1380 also with mods like racing cam etc.

Non A Series

Promotive
vTec
Vauxhaul conv.
BMW twin cam bike head (K1200 etc.)

Any other suggestions?

A 7 or even 8 port would be good. There's not many about so it would be deifferent. Mayswell run injection with that though to make the most of the head.

EDIT: And with injection it can be made to fit under a standard roundnose.

Right. Changed my mind...again.

Having stripped a load of stuff off the mini (pics to follow) I'm getting it ready now for it to be repaired.

I don't really think tho that i could face crashing the car again, especially if I'd just rebuilt it, so it will be built to a 'fast road' spec.

So what has everyone got to make them go fast!??

How does this sound for starters?

1275
Stage 1 Kit
SW05 cam
Webers
