neil, you could pad it out yourself then get tape type leather, similar to what they use on racing bikes i think and wrap it round, difficulty of course is the ends |

I can put a guide up if that helps? It is a bar steward of a job to do perfectly with an old wheel. As said its a bit of a dying art, your best bet is a saddler, but dont expect it to be cheap.

Hi David, yeah tape might be an option... really wanted it done in leather and done right but no way I am forking out that kinda bucks for it.
Its a real shame

looking at your wheel Elmo it looks like you should have a plastic Insert (thats the groove around the inside) and not stitched

Maybe, but I would prefer it to be stictched leather to hope I can find somewhere reasonable to get it done.

My steering wheel had the horrible sticky adhesive left from where the previous owner put go faster grip tape on, i just used some thinners and a scouring pad to get rid of it.

Sorry for the highjack but how easy is it to re-dye the leather???

Isn't that stuff self adhesive? If not I'm sure its been thought of, but the tape for redoing tennis racket handles should be sticky backed...
