I'm sorry if im confusing people, i haven't ment to offend anyone!

I've asked the question 'can anybody give me a lead to who may have made a carbon fibre mini sprint shell?'

I then again asked the same question, clearly!! I even put it in bold :P

All i want is a name or some guidance, as asked in the orignal question, to who may have made a carbon fibre mini shell.

If you read what a wrote i didn't actually ask for a quote?!

Also can you move it back to questions, as it doesnt really fit into chat...

The tech section is for technical questions, asking who has made stuff isn't a technical matter - it's chat or window shopping.

If you get an answer you don't want, it doesn't stop anyone giving the answer you are after. Be grateful someone you don't know tried to help you and reconsider if you asked the right question to get the answer you want. You can do more to alter the your questions than other people's answers.

anyone could have made it, not just a mini specialist... i could have made it if i had the money and time

but i will try a few names,

curly
carbon wezel
abs motor sport

shells worth around £4000 maybe more

to be honest nobody knows about them as a grp shell is more comenly used and even thats not very comon.

everyone here knows what there talking about and if there is no definitive answer then i should give up, because if the answers not on TMF reguarding minis its not anywhere.

anyway why would it even matter who made it? its still a quality product worth alot.

As Paul has already said I've only heard of a couple of CF shells, the Hawk and Sprintworks FG cars are more common. It may be difficult to get any sort of metal bodied Sprint road registered these days with the 'new' DVLA rules, so I should imagine you (or who ever owns it) would have to go down the same route as a kit car builder (this is assuming you would want to use it on the road). Its nice that so many people want to copy the Minisprint, there are a lot of replicas out there (both metal and FG / CF) but real cars (1966-1970, Trickett and S&A) are rare these days

Yup, this a chat question NOT a tech question.

You asked "Body Stylist" for a quote......."I wouldn't mind a price"

You confused "Carbon" and "Carbon Fibre"

You still haven't helped yourself by saying exactly what information you want and why?

Have you been offered a shell and want to know who made it and what it could be worth?

Simple stuff like the location of the item, how much they want for it and any info will help out the people who are trying to help you.

You don't have to give the postcode or the name of the person selling it if you're worried about someone getting in there first.

I didn't really ask the guy for a quote, i did not know he manufactured shells. Its quite obvious from what i wrote after that i was not interested in a full shell. I'm sorry if he thought i was interested in purchasing a full CF shell.

I always thought carbon fibre was abriviated to carbon or CF?

The only information i was after was, does anybody on here know who made a CF mini sprint shell?
As there is one in my local area (Dorking) that has been up for sale for quite a long time at a price of originally £6000 now down to around £2000. Which i thought was a resonable price considering i would never have to tackle rust again.
The reason for wanting the information is just to understand a little bit more about it, how i would go about registering it on the road and what area's need attention etc.

Gawd Some people can be soo Rude >_<
makes me laff people ask for advice then are very rude to those who try to help them,Same Old Same Old

Reading back through some of my comments i can see why some people may be a little offended or think i've been a bit rude, im very sorry for this! Im not normally like that i promise, see my other threads and what not.
Been on nights this week and im pretty stressed out at the moment. Have a brand new system to look after with over 400 installation faults and snags.

Can we get back onto carbon fibre shells as i would quite like to own one :o.

Possibly, this guy has had it a while with no sale though.

I was planning on buying it then storing it and building it up slowly with maybe tax exempt subframes etc and trying to keep a tax exempt plate on it, if thats possible.

I can't help with carbon fibre, never got on with the stuff as it always sets on fire when I try and weld it.

Well i got the guys phone number this morning and have just got of the phone to him.

He believes that it was possibly made by Hawk so could be the same as the Gulf painted CF hawk.

Its definately made of carbon fibre but has got a fibre glass gel coating over the top. He said you can see that it is carbon fibre from the inside.

It comes with doors and a front end but no glass which could be hard to source or get cut.

The guy that used to own it was into racing mini's but got to old and sold it on.

Edit:

Oh and im going to see it soon to hopefully put a deposit down.

Laminated glass can be cut down, but it may take more than one attempt, you will have to measure the front windscreen size first, as some Sprints had full size front screens (not sure if any of the Hawk cars did though), sounds like an interesting project for someone (you) >_<

Good job i have a couple then! Didn't realise you could could get it cut down, thanks for that they were next on the list to go on ebay ha.

Luckily i sneakily measured the one at SMD and it was cut down by roughly 2 inches.
