Laminated glass can be cut down, but it may take more than one attempt, you will have to measure the front windscreen size first, as some Sprints had full size front screens (not sure if any of the Hawk cars did though), sounds like an interesting project for someone (you) >_<

Good job i have a couple then! Didn't realise you could could get it cut down, thanks for that they were next on the list to go on ebay ha.

Luckily i sneakily measured the one at SMD and it was cut down by roughly 2 inches.

I should imagine that the Hawk shells are all roughly the same, but best to wait until you have the car (measure twice cut once!), the side glass can be cut out of toughened or laminated sheet, or you could go the perspex route, depends on if you want to make a road racer or GT Touring style car

Yea i will definately be waiting. I may not even buy it yet . Im not sure as of yet will wait and see what the doors are like that come with it. I like the idea of perspex but glass is so much nicer.

It'll probably end up taking styling ideas from all sorts of styles. A bit like my current mini.

Don't get perspex!!!! it scratches, degrades and shatters very easily.

Polycarbonate is your friend.

Glass weighs a hell of a lot, I had some fibre glass doors and to be honest, polycarbonate was the only material suitable to glaze them. I fitted it tight as a drum and sikaflex'd it in place. if you are thinking of spending £2k on a ultra light shell, then you need the equivalent spec windows.

I was using Perspex as a generic term  as you say there are much better modern alternatives available, I'm sure if the original poster does not buy the car he will point the current owner in the direction of this forum / Mk1 performance Conversions and the minisprint forum so someone else will have a chance to build the car :)
