my mini is the biggest ******* ever
fitted eletric points
it keeps running the battery flat when the ignition is off
so i unplug the points every time the engine is off
and now its flat again
i love my mini but think i should of just got a **rubbish** clio or sumin

Nooooo!! French can't build cars!!!

:] its properly a light or something left on or battery is a dud

Do you have a SPI or MPI mini ?

My friend had a simular problem and the only way to stop his battery from running flat was to disconnect the negative terminal.
He has traced the problem and he thinks its due to the ECU staying on for some reason. ( Someone posted the link below to him ).

nah its a normal carb mini :)
its not the battery because it done it on the other one

turn the car off and get your electric tester out and try find where power is still coming though

I never got the el cheapo electric points to work.

Just change the regulars yearly.

iu got a 79 mini and my off is far right

middle is for opening doors

and far left is on when ever

Yeah, I'm affraid you can't blame the Mini when you've been tinkering!

Find out what's wrong, amend it and learn from the Mini experience. Knowledge is power (or a running car in this case).

a maplin electronic ignition kit will set you back about £5

If you need cheering up buy a Clio, I changed the brake shoes on the back of one once, was a laugh a minute... and people say the mini is cheaply built...

Three of us (all mini owners past and present) stood and chuckled thinking, "that's so cheap that, can't be safe".

why don't you disconnect the battery lead instead of the points?
