Lets not verge on racism now.
But I do agree about how he keeps saying Mini.

So what is it, just a brand name now? Let's make MINI laptops and office chairs!

I'm going to go right ahead and say that I don't care if I sound like I'm MINI bashing, this is stupid!

I'd be tempted to buy one, stick an A series in and then send it back.

Think its a clever idea and again MINI leading the way forward. This is a great opportunity for younger people to get one on the road to owning a mini. First scooter then the mini and then owning a classic, which i have said before a lot of MINI owners who have never had a classic are buying them. This has to be a good thing as many more classics are saved from the scrap heap and not crushed or taken off the road. But a lot of you choose to forget this. I think that this will expand the MINI name further for more people to enjoy and get in to the scene again a lot of you choose to forget that as well.
BMW have taken mini to what it should of been under Rover/BL etc and not just shoved up the corner in the showroom, in fact some showrooms never had the mini in at all you had to ask for one due to the fact that they wanted you to have a bigger car ie 200 etc. Rover wanted it to die and not carry on. Now think to yourself what is could of become if The management hadn't screwed the company over something they were blind to.
So before we jump down there throats let see what there like and how well they sell and in fact if they are going in to production before you slate them off. It also now seems that since it was announced last month that other car companies are jumping on the band wagon with Smart now bring out a scooter to match its car, so lets here the bemoaning about that.
Companies are not selling cars like they use to before Gordon screwed to country and now are having to diverse in to other things, this intern will bring in money and jobs into the UK from the factory to the dealerships (i know what goes on i work for a dealership and know how difficult it is at the mo.) Plus many young people cant afford to run cars straight from passing there tests as the running costs are so high this is going to the first step in to the mini world.

no, no and no!!!!

I don´t really care about the MINI brand, I like Mini CARS and not "scooters" or motorbikes. now will you start about accepting scooters in the Classic Car Shows?

by the way I've got a PROPER scooter, and it's a CLASSIC Vespa!!!

Is scooter bashing allowed on TMF? we're not talking cars anymore...

>_< >_< >_< >_< >_< >_<

Edited to add: with all respects to the company workers.

Lol this seems to have prompted a right good stur up.

High five to you minispaniard, me and my dad have a vespa too.

I just think bmw need to know when to stop. I have accepted them putting the mini name to 'their mini' but putting the mini name to a scooter!!

It will probably be over priced too, like their cars.

I didn´t have anything against MINI until right today, but they are taking it too far...

John Cooper's son Mike Cooper has also moved into designing and selling Cooper Bikes (sse below).............so I guess we will soon have a choice of Mini personal transport suitable for all types of journey!

Most companies these days have to explore new areas for their products in order to survive and to offer a full range which allows brand loyalty. As has been said the Mini scooter could attract youngsters before they even think of a particular car to own as well as promoting alternative more enviromentally friendly forms of transport. Likewise the new MINI Countryman is to retain buyers who have previously had to leave the MINI range once the clutter of family life and kids start to appear, its not long before young people tire of struggling to wedge a pushchair into the boot of a Mini or MINI. Throw in a few trips to the dump and the DIY store and the appeal of something which drives like a MINI but which offers space for family life is appealing.
Next up from the Scooter at the bottom of the range will maybe be the New MINI-Minor city car and electric MINI E now being tested by volunteer drivers in London.

If further proof was needed of the difficulties of building small cars here, Nissan have just stopped building the Micra in Sunderland where 2.3 million have been built since 1992 and moved all production to Thailand as it is no longer economic to build cheap small cars in the UK. The factory in Sunderland is instead building the new Nissan Juke a superMini-sized crossover 4x4 to compete directly with the new MINI Countryman..............

(A further example of companies expanding their product diversification but in another industry altogether..................How many of us now also buy our favourite brand of chocolate bars such as Mars, Snickers, Twix, Galaxy, Maltesers, Bounty, etc in the form of ice cream and other spin-offs?)

I agree it may be a clever idea for expanding their business, but again I'm not interested...

I think you are missing the point here. this is supposed to be a forum to talk about cars and not about "how to develop a business"!!!

I wouldn´t like to start a new friendly discussion that will take us nowhere like previous ones.

My biggest fear is that prospective purchasers will view this as a toy, and operate it as such. Electric or not, it belongs on the street like any other powered-two-wheeler, but I can imagine them being driven in the bike lane or down the sidewalk by throngs of noobs who will flock to this just because it wears the MINI logo. To top it off, the croc-wearing, helmet-less buffoon at the controls will probably have the nerve to honk their horn at you (on the sidewalk) when you’re “in their way.....this comment just about says it all

Agreed but sometimes we have to explore or discuss the reasons behind something rather than just slagging something off without any thought as to why? At the end of the day even BMC, BL and Rover existed to develop their business in a profitable way.
