The Mrs has gone out trick or treating with some friends and her kids, so I thought I'd take advantage of another hour in the garage.

I decided to put the huts on, but the taper wouldn't drop into the bottom arm properly, it turns out they're on the wrong sides. The great thing about the adjustable arms is you can just wind the adjuster out and the arm separates meaning the pin doesn't have to come out.

Here is the result

Just the steering arms to go on and then we can put the wheels on.

The only other issue is, I'm not sure about the thread on one of the top arms for the grease nipple. It doesn't want to start. :(

Nice One Carlos, not too far to go now, you'll be over for the TT in it next year then!?

No mate, I'm going to Portugal in August so can't really afford the TT.

Have you got anywhere a mate of mine can park a camper van for 6 weeks?

6 weeks?!?!  I'll have to think on that one, is that including TT week?  I'll ring you about it.

It's a very big day today, the mini is on it's wheels, but there were some challenges.

IMAG0228_zpsjcbwoj7e.jpg

The jack wouldn't come out from under the car which is a shame as the gate post I was using to support across the rear subframe it just the right length. I may cut a notch in it.

So, I had to jack the car up with a scissor jack in order to get the trolley jack out so that's all sorted.

On it's wheels

Fairly low.

I left the old track rod ends on the rack which may cause issues as the nut was turning when I was doing them up. I'll sort that when I put the new ones on. Apart from that I'm very pleased.

Next job (after tidying the garage) is to paint all the door shuts.

Indeed it came out of my recycling.

I really enjoyed putting shiny parts together, it gave me a real sense of progress

I am actually really enjoying getting back to welding and fabrication on mine. I think the nice long break away from it has done wonders.

I would quite happily forfeit the re-assembly for more welding and fab...............I think

I've been doing a couple of bits today, I gave the garage a sweep out which meant rolling the mini out.

I need some warm weather to do a bit of painting.

I painted the O/S door shuts today, and the inside of the N/S door (don't ask)

IMAG0250_zpsnbsfeezb.jpg

IMAG0254_zpsvp5dtdfm.jpg

IMAG0253_zpswvvgftau.jpg

It looks so blue, but it is purple.

I also sealed the seems on the O/S door. I'm going to turn the car around and paint the N/S door shut then fit the doors.

I really enjoyed the couple of hours I spent in there today. It needs flatted back and polished, but there's plenty of paint on there so it'll all be good
