I agree. Anyone know if its true that day time running lights are to become mandatory on new models in a year or 2? Not sure where I heard this. I might have made it up.

If it's true then in a 5 or 10 years there'll be lots of e marked ones in the scrappies.

http://www.legislati...schedule/2/made

can't see anything in there that says you can't although you may want to check the amendments to make sure.

people have been campaigning to make marker lamps compulsory, but I don't believe it's been approved yet.

Who cares, it looks sweet as!
i think as long as they aren't blinding people, and go off when the headlights come on, then they are legal

if they were blue or any colour other than white, they'd definitely be illegal.
I'm sure you're ok with those ones...

From what I can gather it is only illegal to have red lights on the front of a car, blue lights are ok but only if they do not flash (clicky), I'm sure i've seen this subject (light colours) pop up on the police forums

Is that car registered, built, or collected?
My dads new car comes on the 3rd, and the spec doesn't include DRL

Think its got to be standard on all 2011 Models + onwards. The 2011 Bini is out now, and has them, so I think DRL are going to get more and more common as the '11 models come out.
My dads got them in his A4, and they certainly stop people pulling out on you at junctions etc, which would be especially usefull in a Mini :)

I think daytime running lights are a stupid idea to be honest, the reason for having lights is so that you can see where you are going, and that people can see you in the dark , if people cant see you in the daytime regardless of whether or not you have lights on, theyre an idiot and shouldnt be driving.

The running lights do look nice on the right car though
