well thought id start a project thread for my new engine im building for my mini.

im curently running a 1380 with weber 40 stage 5 head 276 cam duplex timing gear and sc drops and my 3.9 diff, runs really well atm but im down sizing as i want to fit a wilder cam and not worry about melting the pistons to the block

so hopefully ill be running with
s/c gear box
s/c drop gears
s/c 3.7 x pin diff
lightened and balance flywheel and black plate
compertition clutch
balance and lightend conrods
1293 pistons
stage 5 head with 37.7 inlets and 29 exh
1.5 rockers
duplex timing gear
isky followers
649 camshaft
weber 40 on 6 inch inlet manifold
free flow exhaust manifold on a maniflow twin box side exit exhaust

and i have 4 pot brakes already fitted with negative chamber all round.
and for cooling i have my oil cooler and front mounted radator which im going to use again.

i currently live away for home serving the country. so only have weekends to work on it so will try and keep it updated as much as possible :errr:

enjoy

yeah i know  ill try and get up to my mates and take a pic of his set up, the carbs are about level with the dash rail.

his is a med built 1293, not 100% of the spec but i do know he runs a scatter cam

Hi Mate, I think a Weber 40DCOE is too small for a 1300 engine. The 45 is the one to use if you want to make use of a Weber (probably with 36mm chokes). The 40 doesn't flow enough air and is more suitable for 1000cc engines.

I also disagree with Kaj.. You cant run a webber on a 998!!! thats just silly... In fact a Hiff 44 is to big for a 998.. Depending on spec of course.
Im running an HIFF 44 on my 1380.

By the way danny1 your spec looks Fab!!Im defo going to watching this build. By the way do you speak French???? After todays news you may need to learn.
Bloody poor show if you ask me!!!

lol french wont be messing around with the job im in i can trust you that. things we do are to sneaky sneaky

yeah ive seen 998s with webers on but i think they run tiny chokes and have to be uprated engines or its gonna do nothing.

any way had a few goodies turn up aparently from what dads said so should have some pictures to put up tomorrow, and as of the 21st till 8th ill be away at sea so there wont be much progress at all.

but hopefully ill be able to get the block dismantled and pull the old pistons and crank out, and get that booked in at the machine shop to have it bored out to acept the pistons.

and ive been thinkign about lightening the clutch covers.

but im getting excited now, i love building stuff
