Right I'm gonna start my thread on here from scratch as the last one was a bit messy.

Heres the old thread if anyone wants to flick though it as their are a few bits I'v missed.
http://www.theminifo...howtopic=125010

Heres some pics of her from the ebay add.

Posted Image

and her she is the day I bought her.

Posted Image

She had a few mods. A stage 1 kit, a non standard carb and a 1275 head. Although the block had not been pocketed, badly painted mini light wheels and group 2 arches. Cause of the engine not being pocketed the engine ran like crap when I got her. She didn't really do above 50mph and back fired alot.

Anyway she was used until her MOT ran out about 3 months later.

So of she went in to my local garage.
Posted Image
Posted Image

She failed on a number of things mostly welding. Me being impatient wanted it back so payed the garage to do the work.

After the MOT she went off down to Slarks to have the engine done. I got her back all set up and running a lot better then before with an amazing 53 BHP although the work did cost me a few pounds under £800 altogether.

wownkTVC1o0

Anyway after I got her back I started adding some nice shiny parts to her ready to take to some shows.

Her she is at the IMM 2009.
Posted Image
Posted Image

I also bought some new number plates at the IMM as the ones on her were looking old, dirty and a tad tacky.
Posted Image

Now up to about this point she had only been used for shows and weekends as I was still learning to drive. But after I passed she was thrown in to daily use getting me and a couple of my mates to college as well as getting me to work. She was used as a proper car in all weather and this stared to kill her pretty badly.

Heres a few of her rusty spots.

I also found having drums all round on a daily drive was not fun. So I bought these of a mini in the local scrappy.
Posted Image

Also started to get some panels.
Posted Image
Posted Image

Now I had a few ideas with what I wanted to do with my mini. I had a look round at some shows and decided I wanted to go for a retro racer/rally car look. Although as some of you know I'm really in to the whole VW thing so would quite like to add some of their styling in to my car where I can with out making it look stupid or tacky.

Anyway back to the bits I bought.

Also got a spare 998 for £25
Posted Image

Some Mk2 rear lights for a tenner.
Posted Image

I also changed her sound system around a bit as the one that came in her was a bit pants. I bought some Alpine 6x9s and some speaker boards of Roberts. They really are amazing quality. I cant recommend him enough.
Posted Image
Posted Image

Some plastic door handles. I had alloy ones on my car when I bought it and wernt really my cuppa tea.
Posted Image

I bought a fiberglass mk1 bonnet
Posted Image
Posted Image

I also won all this on ebay for £2.
Posted Image
Posted Image
Ok the postage was £12 but I still dont think it was bad. Best bit was I sold the wipac head light that came in it for £7. It also had a pair of mint mk2 rear light lenses.

I got some nice bits from Roofless.
Posted Image

Got some pressed plates as I thought they were a little more retro.
Posted Image
Posted Image

I also got a mk1 grill
Posted Image

A mk1 fiberglass bootlid
Posted Image

And a light to go on it.
Posted Image

My car then went off to a mates while I was on holiday to have a new front and rear valance put on it.

I got back of my holiday to find this.
Posted Image
Posted Image
Posted Image
I was really pleased with it and even loved the look of it with the gray front. Not long after though me and my mate painted it to stop it rusting again.
Posted Image
Posted Image

I then bought the mk1 tash to go with the grill.
Posted Image

I then fitted my mk2 rear lights.

Posted Image

THEY LOOK THE NADSSSSSSS. I love mk2 rear lights.

I then got some new group 2 arches as one of mine was cracked on the back from having loads of people and booze in it and driving down a bumpy road at riv run. And one of the front ones where buggered from some silly mare backing in to my car at college.
Posted Image

I also swapped my plane back door cards for some patterned ones.

Right I'v still got more.

I painted various parts of the brakes black to make it all look tidier.

Posted Image
Posted Image
Posted Image

I then bought a fiberglass center console from Gaydon.

Posted Image

I also got a electric wing mounted fan.
Posted Image
Should help my car a bit when I'm in ques.

I also got some glass indicators a 1000 badge and a temp gauge.
Posted Image

Now this is were it all goes tits up.

I was driving round town when my gear box decided to blow up or (eat its own face). This was the first time my car had ever ended up on a truck. All other times it had broken down I had managed to get it going again buy myself.

Posted Image

So I decided I was gonna do a few jobs while I had to take the engine out.

I stripped down that engine I bought for £25 and cleaned up the gearbox. It was pretty much mint lucky enough.

Posted Image
Posted Image

I also got some yellow engine paint as I'm gonna give it a paint. while the engines out.
Posted Image

My front floor pans anf sills had got in quite a bad way so I got some new ones. Not sure when I'll get round to getting these painted as of yet though.
Posted Image

I stripped the engine down and cleaned it up in lots of Jizer.

At combe I got most of the bits needed to put it all back together. Got a new water pump and bypass hose. A thurmostat. Some front wheel bearings and some oil seals as these were the only bits I needed to get for my disc brakes. A new red cowling as mine was bent. This is the next thing to paint. I also got some new mirrors and a front clubby bumper.

Posted Image

I painted my rad cowling I got at Combe.
Posted Image

I got a heater of ebay.
Posted Image

And another one of my ebay bargains. A braided oil filter hose for only £7.
Posted Image

I also cleaned up a load of the bits I stripped out the engine bay.

Posted Image

Posted Image

Posted Image

Posted Image

I also took a trip to mini spares the other day. I got a steering rack. A center clock wiring loom and a few gaskets I needed.
Posted Image
Posted Image

O and I got a few other bits for the enigne. I got some nice bits from DSN.
Posted Image

And an alloy rad as well as some silicone hoses.
Posted Image

Today I took everything else off the engine and got it ready so its now just sat on the subframe. So it can now just be lifted out. I'll post an update when I get the engine out.

So thats about it. That a quick type up of what I'v done to my car. Their are a few bits I'v missed out but if theirs anything I think I should put in here then I'll add it.

Thanks for reading! Sorry about all the posts the forum wouldn't let me put all my pics in one post.

Cheers mate. Yea I'm hoping it should look good. It doesn't need to be perfect but as long as it looks better then it did then thats fine. Engine should be out Sunday as long as 1. I can borrow my mates ball joint popper as Halfords had none left and 2. the weathers not to bad.

Looks good. :) Do you still have the front drum brake setup. Want to sell it?

Cheers. At the moment the drums are still on the car as I never go round to putting the discs on. The discs should go on the same time as the new gear box all being well. I did say a lady in my club could have them for one of her Mk1'a so she could convert it to twin leading drums. I'll check to she if she still wants them. If not you can have them.

Shame it started raining so badly earlier other wise I may have got it out before it got dark and may have got the subframe out as well. Never mind at least I got something done though. I'll start cleaning the engine up ready fro paint some time this week.

Thats all for now.

Cheers.

HAHA no reason other then I like sticking random crap all over my laptop and that was pretty much the only word I could make with the few letters I had left. Your not the first person to spot that lol.
