Had ago at fitting the chrome down the side last night, Forgot how much of a paint that job is haha. I have got some of it done but could do with a heat gun to finish it off.

I also got some of the soundproofing for the carpet fitted.

Lastly I did something with this yesterday.

My Rattle Cyder bar tap I want to make in to a gear knob. Want sure what the best thing to fill it with would be but Rusty suggest potting compound and also managed to get hold of some for me.

Anyway I mixed it up poored it in and left it over night.

Its now gone rock solid which is a result! Now hopefully I'll be able to drill and tap that. Thats a task for the weekend.

Still got a bit over the cross member to fit and the bit that sits on the flitch panel on the driver side needs trimming round the fresh air intake but those couple of bits shouldn't take long. Popped the carpet back out for now just so it doesn't get dirty.

Also got a bit if threaded tube on the way to finish off the gear knob as well.

Looking good, the carpets suit the colour well. I used the same sort of stuff to fill my lego head gear knob and just drilled and tapped it.

Cheers guys I'm pleased with the carpet! Hopefully I can get it all in properly if I can get the car fully water tight this weekend. I'm missing a seal for the quaterlight on the passenger side which means I can't fit it. Hopefully found something from a VW that will work though.

Right well been doing a bit over the weekend, First up a bit of a result with the window seal, My mate who works at a VW spares place picked me up a a pair of window seals for T2 camper.

image_19.jpeg

Was a bit to short so I had to use both on one window and cut the other down. But with a bit of glue in they went

image_20.jpeg

I let that dry and got the window fitted, I also have a bit of a battle, a few cut fingers and some boiling hot water got the chrome trim on.

Today Iv been fiddling around with the gear selector, the tube with the roll pins is in a joined up but I still didn't seem to be getting any gear. After looking round it turns out the cup the rod changer has come apart from the rod its self, I didn't get a chance before I popped out this afternoon to take it all that apart but I'm gonna have a look int he haynes book and see if I can work out what has happened,

Also got the near knob drilled out,

image_18.jpeg

 I'm pretty chuffed with that.

Few more parts ordered, also got some metal on the way so I ca make a heater bracket, I have Thursday and Friday booked off work just to crack on with this so hopefully the weather is good and the bits come and I can get some more done.

You haven't put the plate on the bottom of the selector round the wrong way have you? I done that once and couldn't get some gears, can't remember what ones though!

Right got a bit done over the last few days, More wiring done,

These tuned up

image_25.jpeg

So got those and the interior light fitted and working,

These came in the post as the body shop forgot to put them in the car when it was bought back so go those on

image_26.jpeg

Also got all the indicators wired up although I am having an issue with one of them not working, also got the speedo lights fitted,

image_32.jpeg

Gear selector issue sorted, the roll pin had come out from between the rod and the cup the gear stick sits in, lucky nuttoni had a spare pin laying about so popped it in which solved the issue.

This also happened today

pretty pleased the oil pressure is spot on

image_31.jpeg

also made a start of fitting the heater today, I took it apart and moved the wiring about as i didn't want the wiring sticking out the front so moved the wiring around and drilled a hole in the rear of the heater, should just have the heater running an on off switch on the dash,

hopefully finish off a few bits of wiring over the next week and then look at getting the mini booked in for a suspension set up for the week after,

Have you got a bulb out still? Or is it LED's?

And why the mismatch bulb on the water temperature(?) gauge?

All the bulbs are in and just the standard bulbs, I think its just the angle of the photo that makes it look like that, They all light up the same,

Not much of an update, Went to Beaulieu and bought a few bits I have either lost, broken or forgotten to buy, I bought some wiper blades as they are kinda needed to the mot, for check strap seals so hopefully that will fix the puddle I keep getting on the drivers side so I can get the carpet in, a new hazard switch as the one in the car was crap and fell to bits, one of the little screw/nut/bolt DooDahs needed to fit the choke cable to the carb and a vacuums hose.

Blades, hazard switch and vacuum hose fitted last night,

Hopefully get a couple of hours on it one evening this week to get the other couple bits fitted and a bit more wiring done,
