Yet again, a nice copy and paste from MK3OC

Lots of good news for me!. Passed its MOT. Only needed a few brake pipes and a bit of weld on the exhaust. Exactly as I expected, but I just couldn't be arsed to do it myself. Also got an advisory on the rear disc shield, but I'm going 5 stud anyways so it doesn't really bother me.

Anyways a few bits turned up this week. Got myself some silicon hose for the washer jets, as 1), they are moving to the scuttle panel, and 2), the pipes ned replacing anyways.

For the washers I decided to use Vectra C heated jets. Not sure why really lmao. I saw them on eBay so went for them, the theory is to help stop the jets freezing up but to be honest I've never had a problem!.

Posted Image

Some engine enamel was on the cards too, as It'll be off for balancing next week then as soon as It's back I'll be building it up.

And last but not least, A parcel from SuperClutch:

Thats all for now.

Just kidding!!

Absolutely BRILLIANT bit of kit. Massively pleased with it!. Service was spot on too, considering its not an "off-the-shelf" setup!.

Tom.

Not perfect by any means, but definitely better than a kick in the sack!. About the best finish I'm gonna get on it I think, without being anal about it.

As it came out of the gun:

And after about half hour attacking it by hand with the G3:

And after a quick blast of wax. You can kinda see the line where I stopped.

Like i say, not perfect, but It'll do for now.

Painting in an ordinary garage is a nightmare, bits of crap everywhere. I've just done my roof and although the finish is ok(ish!!!) the amount of moon rocks is incredible!!

So whats with the panels then, are you gonna give up on this as well now and just try and build another from scratch?

Totally not Ideal, but I'd rather put up with it than pay someone else to do it!. The trouble with the bonnet is its full of craters and stuff anyways which doesn't help.

I thought about it!!. It looks worse than it actually is really. The valance doesn't actually need to be done, and I just got it because it was cheap ( i think its also upside down in the pic!). So really its just the arches and the sills, which to be fair is to be expected on any 18 year old Vauxhall!.

I've got a couple of weeks off in June/July (god knows when it actually is) and I'll crack into the rust, rather than engine I think.

Thanks for the post man LOL. Nearer £700 if you want to be pedantic, but £600 is enough.

Had half a day off today, and incidentally tomorrow off as well which is pretty win! Anyways I got down the garage with the intention of removing all the old bonnet stuff and fitting the new one, which went pretty much to plan.

The brackets I made up had a little leg on them, which slides into where the clip for the wing would sit and is bolted right through. Seems pretty damn solid!.

All the old stuff like the release mechanism and the bonnet prop all came out as well.
