whats with all the ??????? ?
all im going to say mate, is that if you want it back that badly, its going to cost you whatever way you get it back! you get it trailered and unless the person is too generous for their own good, your going to have to pay for time, ferry, diesel and wear and tear, as towing really adds wear to engine and gearbox components, which is really going to add up, espec with diesel and petrol the price it is!

I'm amazed people are willing and able to help you out. It's not exactly a small favour.
You could also look at sites like http://www.loadmatch.co.uk/ but it may be a bit more complex for overseas.

i have a flat bed, but its 5 hours each way plus ferry....
I personally would PM this guy, sounds like he would do it for the right price!!
As has been said, its a big "favour" so your gonna end up paying quite a bit how ever you get it back!
Alot of people have come up with suggestions and offers though, so get PMing

Good luck getting your mini back

Seeing as it got to france via a removal firm what about ringing a few international removal firms and see if they are coming back from france empty at any point, MIGHT be a way of getting it for a reasonable price as if they are returning to uk anyway anything you pay them is just a bonus, as the person moving has paid for the return journey anyway. Just speak nicely to them on the phone
You would probably need somebody in france though to give them the keys etc, and im not sure on the legalities of customs etc you would need to check
