Well I'm 17 and my insurance is £550 fully comp...

If you say so.

im with you on that one, im nearly 17 and i got a quote, fully comp for £1850 with £650 excess and thats the cheapest i got lol

Okay I just did the quote again with the exact same details. I haven't actually passed yet but I have set the start date of my insurance for the day of my test and for a full license
Below are numerous screenshots with personal information edited out. notice the time in the top right hand corner showing that the final quote page is in fact from for these details
Adam

Which website is that quote off?
It was over £5000 with Aviva for the same details with me.
But the website was totally different.

It does indeed come out as less than £1000 through that website.
It does mean your mum is fronting though, as she must be down as the main driver if you're the frequent one, and the insurance won't pay out if you have an accident. Especially if you are the proposer, the owner, and the keeper, but not the main driver.
If you put yourself as main, then you get the real price.
The aviva site doesn't let you put that option in directly, the proposer has to be the main driver, so it might be caught there. Should certainly ring bells.
If they cancel it you will be paying through the nose forever as well.
(If you had quotes with you as main driver, with the same details, that'll be on record too, and may flag up)

To be honest, I'd prefer to say my mum is the main driver even if she isn't going to drive it as much and pay £1000 less. The insurance company would not be able to prove who drove it more...

They don't need to. They just don't pay out, then cancel your policy, because they decide to.
Or they just cancel your policy anyway.
Even if your mum was owner and keeper, and you were a named driver it would look dodgy, but as everything is in your name but the you're not putting yourself as main........

i can't see aviva doing that. but if they do then i'll leave them and find a new insurer...

But if they cancel, you go down on a national insurers database, so you have to declare you have had insurance cancelled, and not many will touch you then. The ones that will are expensive.

Enough said though, but remove the screenshots.
