Just seen a stunning civic typr r black 05 plate 58000 miles 1 owner looks tempting

honda civic is always a winner, i had a type s 2.0l slightly de-tuned compared to the type r but still got 35mpg around town and it shifted when you needed it to. type r has the looks to go with the engine though, no real faults to cause you any worry either.

My dad had one, gorgeous car, but they do drink fuel. He got rid of it as it started having issues with it not starting when it was warm.

Also, very expensive for bits.

Petrol or Diesel?

judgeing by the sig, petrol, though my cusins diesel wasn't much better :-

Yeup, petrol, the 3.0l straight 6 diesel, (also a BMW engine) isn't much better on fuel either, 177 bhp and 2.6t means they get worked very hard, you'd be lucky to see 25mpg round the doors with it. Even the 3.6TDV8 and the new 4.4TDV8's are horrendous on fuel by modern diesel car standards, again mid 20's

My STI is horrendous on fuel. What about integra type R dc5.
Good round town, goes like stink over 6000 rpm and spares readily available. Not to mention honda's Vtec engines sound amazing when wound right up:).

My mate has a DC2, it was always much quicker than my Accord Type R, it was annoying :P They do shift when they're wound up.

Also, another mate has an EP3 Civic Type R, and the Accord was just as quick as that, weighed about the same, was putting out exactly the same power, (Accord was putting out 197.9 bhp on the dyno before I had a major service and valve clearances set) so were pretty equal. I'd have another Type R Honda in a heartbeat. I'd love an S2000 though, always wanted one, yet never actually bought one, considered it a few times though but for some reason never actually took the plunge.

My old friend has bought the top range Honda S2000 this year, very fast and great quality build,it was expensive but he is in his 60s and wanted another summer toy.Quite shocked when i checked the top end of it and the interior is great. My dad looked at the New mini cooper before the Civic Sports and was very pleased with his choice. They are bigger than they look, problem for him in his 70s,kept damaging the alloys parking it.Another thing i like about the 2.6 Golfs you can take the badges of and have a blender thats what i did with my Audi 2.6 Coupe, that was good for 150mph on a run.0-60 was not to bad for the weight of the car and they do not rust.A great tank.I think you need a four seater and quite a new car for her (and you).Still think a Toyota Supra would be well worth you both road testing or a good Scooby AWD Turbo, you wont look at anything else, makes you feel like Mad Max,anything under 5 secs to 60 gives a real buz.Top end has become a thing of the past for me and if you have a stand out car you do have to watch out for the law everywhere you go,think they get jel. because on there poor wages they can only dream.

My mates got the 232hp version of the RX8 which he loves to bits, only downside with it is all the powers in the top end due to the wankle engine, but its still a pretty quick car!
