I own a 1979 Mini City, vermillion in colour. She boasts an 850 with a soon to be unleaded Cam 4810 head, 1.5 carb, and standard air filter. My old man owned this car previous to me, making me the 3rd proud owner. She was an insurance write-off back in '96; sandwiched between a BMW and a Mondeo at a junction. She was in excellent standard condition when this happened. My old man stored her for several years declared as sorn in a neighbours garage. I decided to put her back on the road and began working on her with the help of my dad back in 2006. I am 18 years of age.
Off she went, to a local garage to be pulled out on a jig, and be repaired. Since then, I have concentrated on the bodywork, sanding and respraying most of the bodywork apart from the doors and wings, which at the moment tend to let her down. The floors, underside floor, sills, brakes, subframe, handbrake have all be refurbished and are as good as new!
She is fitted with a 1990 cooper/checkmate interior, and 3 dial centre clock. Astrali steering wheel and door pockets. Full black interior carpet.
List if modifications:
Somerford Mini group 2 arches
Deep Dish Minilite alloys (10x6)
Straight through Rc40 exhaust
Bonnet pinned fibreglass bonnet.
As for the little 850. I literally replcaed the spark plugs, changed the oil and filter, changed the air filter and have only just recently re-furbished the carb. The immortal 850 is used as my everyday car, and runs surprisingly okay. She's a little bit temprement at the moment, but will de-coke her when I re-fit the head and cooper freeflow.
Theres honestly too much to say, thats alot of it off the top of my head, but theres obviously alot more to it than that!
Here's a recent photo of her on my drive:
