I hate the term bini never have but I'm using my iPhone and it's easier to type cini classic mini and bini BMW mini:0)
Here is an idea total mini and other forums are on tapatalk a iPhone app for forums how about TMF doing that would be easy for iPhone users to reply on here.

If the new mini was built under the rover name, I'm sure most people would except it better.

In my eyes BMW screwed Rover!!!

Been debating posting on this topic,
like probably most of you i stumbled across this forum through Gooogle....not hard top search
I've not been on here to long due but have enjoyed my stay thus far,
I like the fact that everybody here is as nuts about minis as myself, and love trawling through build threads to see other peoples cars, learning tricks and ways to tackle certain problems with their minis, that will help me when i finally get around to my resto.
I'm on the fence as far as the new Minis concerned, Hated it when it came out, "German scum!!!" even made T shirts to demonstrate my disappointment with BMW, but have learnt to accept it as a CAR, and though i appreciate it now has a massive following and is becoming abit of a cult car still dont consider it to be a Mini, yeah it has bits that replicate the original and its available as a cooper I just cant love it,
but thats not the point of my post,
The merge if the two camps will result in this:

wake up one morning and the mini wont start, first things first, TMF = post = "mini wont start?"

1st Reply "is it a mini or a BINI?"

(before anyone shoots me down with "it will be in a different area, like most people i hit the New posts tab as always)

On a Mini dedicated forum id like the people reading my plea for a quick fix to know what car i drive,

I came here with the asumption it not being about Rover/Austin Vs BMW its about a dedicate place for all things Mini ( as in actual Mini)

I dont mean to offend anyone with a BINI but If i owned both id use TMF for the Mini and a dedicated site for the other,

Please don't change TMF,

sorry for the rant Matt

i think Bini B is for Bmw

i guess cini is C for classic

This is exactly what I don't want to be happening, on an online dedicated mini forum I don't want to have to change the name of my car to fit in,
I don't see how not including bins on here will damage the mini scene,
I've been in and out of the mini scene and have never seen it so popular, and before you say that bins have brought back peoples love for the old, if anything it seems a retaliation against them, just wonder around any mini show with a bin present and listen to peoples comments as they pass by.
There not wanted there or here but we tolerate them as we are all out to enjoy our own and other peoples minis no matter what form it maybe.

Thing that pisses me off is when people class the real mini as the 'classic mini' & the BMW Mini as the 'new mini' .....nooooooooo it's Mini... & fake Mini!

If you want to go down that road the the only "real mini" is the mark one and after that their copies!

i don't think there are that many BINI owners that want to join in the mini scene anyway

in the last year i have worked for a few BINI owners and have tried to get them along to a few shows to show them the following the mini has

none of them have been interested their BINI is just a fashion accessory

they had a choice of 3 trendy cars

new beetle
new 500
new mini

for what ever reason they picked the new mini

with the 500 hitting BINI sales quite hard how long will the BINI last in production anyway ?

can you BINI owners see your selves still driving your BINI's in 20 years time or would you have gone for the next new trendy thing ?

the new fiat 500's are ace!!!
In hilltop minis we have a few members that also own binis as every day get to work cars, but they also own real minis & they would never dream of taking there binis to shows

i agree with above. Whenever i see a bini i know that most of the people driving them just have them as a fashion accessory and most of them dont give a c**p about little minis. i know two people who own bini and both of them hate the classic mini :/

Sorry, i work for vauxhall and have seen the figures for the sales of cars, MINI sold more cars than the fiat 500 in total!
Mini sales have gone up with the sales of the countryman going silly with orders now being taken well into the new year and this is with the factory at full production also dealerships are taking orders for the two new minis out this year the roadster and coupe with some selling there quote already, with peoples demand mini are looking at taking the next step and talking to customers to see what they want out of the future of mini
It's also funny how other car companies have copied mini ie the new ds with options you can have etc .
Well I'm off to enjoy the rest of the day, I'm going to have a look at the classic I might bye so see you later.
Ps if you would like to carry on slagging me off or shooting me down please feel free!

In the time I have been here every post I have seen by you and most other bini fans) are just telling people how the BINI is the best car and almost like we are missing out on something...

Have I said the MINI is the best car NO! I have answered questions that other people have put or statements that are wrong or need addressing, I take it that's now wrong to do, ok for "classic fans" to say anything but it's not ok for someone to come back with a correction or an answer!
Please read the comments before making a remark you just might see it as different comment!

These debates are getting longer and more reasoned (mostly) as tmf evolves. I think they should be allowed to continue for as long as people want. My own view is that the BMW will eventually go its own way and we will wonder that there was ever any comparison with the classic mini. Initially I was very angry about the claims BMW were making about the links between the two marques, particularly in their US sales pitch, but now I don't think about it much and have stopped huffing & puffing.

The point made earlier about BMW benevolently allowing the classic mini to continue past its sell-by date could also be interpreted as cashing in on a novel idea (the SPi & MPi engine management systems) to keep the brand in the public eye until the first Ones were ready to roll. But hey, Rocky started first go yesterday after the big freeze so I'm happy

You don't have to say the exact words to give the impression of it....

adding a Bini section on here will make the scene more diverse yes..... because most people will leave and settle in the next forum!
