Well im very glad hes ok hes a very lucky person. However if he had a passenger they would almost certainly be dead.

That accident shows why when I fit my cage i will be fitting the door bars that came with it. In this case not having a cage has saved him from seriously injury as Shifty has said the shell absorbed the impact. However a cage might have saved a passengers life if he had been carrying one. Its swings and roundabouts.

Please everybody be especially careful when driving your minis this is a sight we dont want to see at all let alone the number of accidents we have seen in the last couple of months.

That certainly is indeed a lucky escape, glad to see your still on your feet mate. All i can say is i've been there in a similar escape situation, hope your not too shook up mate.

As indeed everyone says, you can replace the car but not yourself!
Keep well, hope your back on the road soon.

Tom

and that unfortunately is why many parents won't let their young inexperienced sons and daughters have Mini's as a first car nowadays. Just suppose the tragedy for someone at Christmas if he had a mate or girl friend in the front passenger seat............as said please drive your Mini's carefully, especially the younger Mini enthusiasts, you do not have the multiple airbags and crumple zones, etc of modern cars!!

JFC!!! That looks pretty bad. As said though, looks like it's absorbed the impact as it should. One very lucky escape!

Thats one accident that would have been made worse by a roll cage, the shell absorbed the impact nicely. Its done exactly what it was designed to do. I reckon a roll cage would have actually hurt the driver more.

Rather that a nice energy absorbing stop it would have been a sudden and abrupt halt, along with the resulting internal injuries.

Absolutely true, I couldn't agree more!! :(

Sadly though, very few people seem to be able to comprehend this concept & just don't seem to understand that safety devices designed for the track are very often lethal when used on the road!!

I would hope that if he had a passenger, he might be taking a little more care. 40 is the limit its not compulsary
