I've just been over to allspeed engineering round the corner from me. I'm looking at 16v conversions so i went to speak to rob about them. I was looking at either k series or vtec, but he let me go out in his 1.6 vauxhal engined salloon  .

Now i'm all confused with what to do, the vtec is way more expensive compared to vauxhall, the vauxhall was really nice to drive, little less powerful than vtec but still very good. The prices go up next year so i want to buy while its cheapish.

What do i do?

Go on www.16vminiclub.co.uk and look at all the conversions on there. And bare in mind I think no one has got a Vtec under a standard length round nose yet, saying that, I heard someone say someone had done it, think it may of even been Allspeed??

Allspeed have managed to fit a vtec in round nose but theres problems with fitting rad etc.

Have been looking around 16vforums for a while, not really looked into vauxhal power until now though, knew it'd be a mistake going to see him! Credit cards begging to come out before new year! Nice xmas present for myself! Lol.

LOL! I have a really cool idea for where to put the rad if it doesn't fit in the front of my clubman, although I'm pretty sure it will!

Is this conversion for your clubby?

Yea its for the clubby, will probably be using fibreglass one piece front anyway as the fron panel and a panels are shot on mine.

The rad could always be routed to the back somewhere if there isnt anywhere upfront.

Yea, said the same to me, seems to be becoming a more popular conversion.

Prices are going up in new year, i must buy now! I might as well do it, not a lot to loose, well only £1300 ish :nugget: .

most of the bits, i added all their prices up before they changed their site and it was pretty much all you need for the conversion.
Subfame, mounts, drivesafts, and aload of other stuff.

Hmmm, then the cost of the engine, any body work, a flipfront, fixings for flipfront, paint, any interior stuff (rollcage, seats, harnesses), brakes...

yeah, but i would only consider the engine as part of the conversion. The rest are things you could do anyway.

Thought you maybe interested in this Marc, or anyone else thinking about a Vtec conversion, especially from Allspeed.

http://www.theredmini.co.uk

That guy has started an Allspeed conversion about 2 months ago, he's on 16V Mini Club if anyone wants to ask him questions.
