No it didn't help I guess but after she complained I actually took measures not to make any sound. If I had to fix a dent I never did that out doors after that. Since I 'm fortunate with my work hours I also reschedule any activity that was somewhat noisy to weeks days during working hours (9-5).

There is also no car parts visible on my property (with the exception of three sets of wheels). There are no wrecks visible either, all cars are either garaged or under cover (that being real covers not tarps).

It should be said it's only two neighbours of the "keep up the apperneces" type that is complaining and did complain to the council that I had too many cars. I'm good friend with my other neighbours and they don't think I'm making noise or have too many cars....

Sincerely Dyna

As you also rent, I assume that that also puts you in a much weaker position that if you actually owned the property yourself as well?

No that is actually no difference.

PS: It's actually an advantage since I'm not the one responsible for fines for fines if I break the enforcement notice.

Hi Wardy,

I wish I did, I was looking for one to rent but haven't found one yet.

Sincerely Dyna

PS: This is not about space actually, your council could find you in breach even on a farm since you don't have planning permission to store any cars! Thats how sick the law is according to them..

Spam or not, my use of buildings is different on a farm. Farm buildings are also governed by defra, rpa ect ect.

Think they'd actually find this would be against your human rights and would just need taking to the european court.......

Think that one would be hard to convince the European court of. Remember they upheld that the UK traffic authority has the right to know who is driving a car caught on a speed camera. This is clearly (in my view) against your right to not incriminate your self or your family.

Beside it would cost a fortune, and second it whould be way to late so to say. The thought is very right although..

I know of some new-builds have covenants restricting the amount of cars owned per house hold and there are some flats in Romford town centre and opposite my friends business in Hackney that cannot have cars registered to the postcode of that address. Fair enough if you buy a house knowing that the covenant is in place but I can't see this being put into place retrospectively.

What happens if the onwer decides to turn a house in to a bedsit ? ie 5 double bedrooms could be 10 cars ??

Also if my house only has bedrooms..... I have a kitchen bedroom, a bath bedroom and a hall bedroom does this mean I can store 3 more Minis ??

A van = temporary storage or garden shed
A pick up = could be an ornamental fish pond

Seriously now

Good luck with your case, hope all goes well for you :)

My brother works for Surrey County Council in sustainable transport.
We were discussing a similar situation with repect to my place of work.
Planning permission was refused because my employers would not budge on reducing parking space.

It's entirely up to the owner of the property & what was agreed with the new use of land.

You can own as many cars as you like, you just have to find other space to store them in.

Talk to your landlord. They are ultimately responsible for answering to the Council.

Wasnt this removed earlier?

i still think its crazy how they think they can tell you what you can and cant put on your own property, its not like cars block light to other peoples gardens is it?

Its all about power!

funny you should say that about light as you cannot ask the councill to take down a tree etc because its blocking light as no one has a right to light or something i learnt it at college lol
