Yeah thats what I was thinking , 1380 , stage 3 head and something like a 276/286 cam
And waheyyy another person that joins me in thinking that Nick lives in some kind of different planet to everyone else!

Depends on how much a new block and machining would be , if it wasnt much I'd just 1380 it.

It’s the ones that are just thrown together and then ragged that generally fail.

i ve got a med 1330 that kicks ass! i was lucky to find a mini with one. it was my first and only mini. wanted a normal mini to compete with my friends minus 1330. his was 90bhp rolling roaded. never had mined rolling roaded cause i ve been buying loads of parts all around the car. but now its alot quicker.

Get want you want. get what you can afford. get a sorted engine

But then again , do I just get one thats machined or pay someone alot of money to build it for me. I'd rather build it myself because it would help alot , but we'll see.

Its not the sum of the parts that make a good engine, its the clearances, end floats, cleanliness and assembly that make it good. Do it yourself if youre competent, if not, pay someone who is

do it once and do it properly, dont buy cheap parts and measure everything twice and double check

1380 is good for turboing lower compression
1330 is a good road engine high compression engine give good bit of horse power

Martin at MRA mini's was telling me hes got his 1380 from when he was younger thats done over 100,000 miles i think he said :)

Personally I think 1330 because its not a case of engine going bang as a well built engine shouldn't. It's more a case of once it's worn out and needs a re-bore. You have a number of options with a 1330, but the 1380 block is i believe only usefull as a paperweight once worn?
And 1275 blocks are not an unlimited supply.

ive never gone to 1380 on any engines that ive built myself, ive only gone to 1330, ill only go 1380 if i really need to rebore one of the blocks, but ig im right, theres one or two sizes between 1330 and 1380? But as said, standard bore blocks are getting scarce, just as well ive got a spare standard bore block in the shed.

1380 is good for turboing lower compression

The larger the bore the harder it is to get the compression lower. It's easier to get a lower compression on a smaller capacity engine.
