More Speed ! More Power ! More 1380!

Just how much more power will a 1380 have over a 1330.

a 1380 will only have around 2 or 3 bhp more so I would go for a 1330 then you can rebore if needed

I am with you but after reading a few posts there seems to be this idea that an a-series should happily rev to 8500rpm.Which would be the reason why all these engines are going bang.

Ok I'll just go for high specced 1330 and then maybe even turbo it some day. Might even get a spare 1275 just incase anything goes wrong.

A series do happily rev high, but only if theyre built right. Most are badly built IMO leading to breakages.
A nicely built mid specced 1380 would last longer than you own the car

1380 will make power with less effort than a 1330 and hence won't have to work/rev/be modified as much. This should mean that a 1380 should be more reliable.

As paul said a 1380 should last thousands of miles before needing a re-bore! As long as it's built right.

ive taken my 1330 to 9,000rpm a few times, and its still going strong. But, i did check all the clearences, balancing, etc when i built it, and it is a strapped crank with arp rod bolts, etc.

Just out of interest, if you got a 1430/1460 out of it like MED do...how long is that going to last?
