yes you are correct in thinking that my knowledge is limited. i am relaying on my mates in the mini club who have offered to help me re build it. the shell will be sent off to a professional to have the body work dne and roll cage put in. as for putting it back together i am planning on doing it. (i know its not that simple) with the engine me and the mini club would have no problem building a N/A engine as we have helped each other build a few, but none of us have built a turbo unit up. im obviously the least experience and would like to try and get my head around the jobs invovled with going turbo, and what specs would get the results im after. another quick question i would like to ask. what is the difference between a normal hif 44 and a turbo hif 44?

thanks for all your help and knowledge guys, its greatly appreciated.

o yes and the roll cage will be a must as i am planning on using the car on the road and would like to have a bit of protection with having GRP doors etc.

Fair enough, in that case go for it!

A turbo Hif44 is sealed so that when boost is run through it, it won't leak all the boost out.

The fuel pipes are in different placeas, and the throttle attatchment for butterfly valve is on the other side.
There is also a little clamp ontop of the dashpot damper to stop it blowing out with boost, howeve a few people have mentioned that this maybe have not been necessary.

An N/A hif44 carb can be converted to run boost.

Have a good look around on turbominis and find people drag racing results.

cheers mini mad you have been a great help. I dont suppose you know if you can buy the turbo hiff 44 from sucarb do you? Iv had a look but dnt think i can find one. I shall have to have a look on turbominis for engine specs etc. What cam would you suggest to use? I was wanting to use an sw5 as you can get it in a kit form from swiftune with vernier duplex chain etc.

There are quite a lot of cams that will work with forced induction.

Nothing to lairy though as that pushes the power band right up to the top of the rev range with minimal gains.

Im using the kent 266 cam, but avonbar phase 2 cam ive heard good things about, N/A mg metro cam is a good upgrade in a turbo lump.

Just have a read, it's all out there.
