there is no need to swear, simple as.
Totally agree, its better to make your point without swearing, I'm fairly certain that if the filter was lifted we'd have a epidemic of tourettes syndome.
TMF is a polite society and it doesn't really have any place here, swearing shows an utter lack of vocabulary.

Ahhhhhhh Bungle...
You star, This is more like it
Get rid of the political crap that goes on, sometimes i feel like this forum is like the country sometimes...So this would be fantastic
you mean a bit nicey nicey and politically correct, can't offend anyone
not like the real bad world
I'll upset them then, Bungle what is the Golf sections on vzi forums like? is there much of a following on there? I cba to trawl through.mods can be very strict and the no spam even in the off topic section is a bit ridiculous. That seems like the whole point of the section to me!
no idea i say in air cooled area
but if we had a adult section what would you do with it ?
look at naked Shifty pictures
swear more
tell each other what you think of each other with out being nicey nicey ?
and what would stop young 15 year old clicking enter ?

I'm fairly capable of putting a convincing point across and conveying accurate emotion without having to swear. If everyone on here was mature and didn't spit their dummy out every time they disagreed with something, the mods wouldn't have to be so hard!
Maybe TMF is in need of an English Language lesson and a thread on accurate portrayal of emotion without the use of expletives?
There are parents on here who's kids use it and they don't want loads of swearing? I don't see who benefits from swearing anyway? It's a family forum and also means that the posts are more to the point and I don't have to filter out the swearing to uncover the point?
I swear on the rugby pitch and god knows I swear at my mini but it's all about social awareness and TMF isn't a social microcosm that lends itself to swearing.
(I fear I may get shot down for this but that's my opinion)

The forum is a bit nicey nicey but surely if you have a problem with someone specifically, a PM will be better? It means you can tell them what you think but keep the public forum more relaxed?
It also stops a thread just becoming 2 posters having a slanging match??

All of the political posturing in the mini scene is one of the main reasons why I haven't got a mini anymore. I too have been a member of Volkszone for years and have a bay window camper.
Due to the atmosphere Volkszone is one of the few forums that i visit regularly.

Oh yes it is to a certain extent. You have to adapt your behaviour to every different environment you interact with. When it comes to people, it's called "social skills".
You said so yourself:
as a teen i was always told not to swear in front of woman and kids and despite working on a building site i don't bring these words at home and feel a bit strange using them in front of people i don't know
With regards to the politically correctitude (<--- is that a word?), this forum is rife with bigotry, ageism, sexism & misogyny (see your quote above!). You're just not recognising it!
The Thought Police are everywhere in our society. Places of work, schools, public areas, places of play & recreation. You can't get away from it, but you can adapt your behaviour to deal with it & still retain your integrity.

Its just a far nicer place here.
Maybe an less moderated Adult section for those who want it is a good idea but please dont change the general forums.

What? No!
What would be in the adult section? just a thread where we can all vent and write swear words?!
The one thing I've never understood is why this is a family forum, as if young 10 year old impressionable children are updating their build restoration thread or asking for advice on engines?
If you are old enough to be active on this forum then you are old enough to understand that there are bad scary words out there.
I swear when I'm with my mates, I swear when I'm on my own, I swear when I'm getting my ass beat down on Call of Duty but I wouldn't swear in public or in front of my family. I've rarely gone to say a swear word on here sometimes before realising I can't.
I'm only still on this forum because I have been for so long and I've built up a reputation, friends and my build threads. I also watch a few other build threads on here and I wouldn't want to miss any updates.
I'm a member on RR and they don't have a swear filter. But I don't see any swear words. Maybe because they are all an older more mature bunch?
I feel fairly confident in saying that if the swear filter was lifted here, there would be bad words left right and centre.
+1 Well said that lad!

I personally like this forum and the lack of swearing, I use another Ford based forum and everyone uses F*** and C*** in every sentence, which can get a little boring after a while, then if someone voices an opinion that is not liked by the majority, they get called a F****** C***.
Its just a far nicer place here.
Maybe an less moderated Adult section for those who want it is a good idea but please dont change the general forums.
I agree with what you say here 100%, I use another VW forum that has rules on the main forum very similar to TMF but they have a 18+ section with more relaxed rules, they dont call it Adult section or anything like that but it does allow members that want to post something that cant be put on main forum:
The Rules
* you may not post any pornographic material of an extreme nature
* you may not post any documents/pics/vids/links deemed illegal within the united kingdom
* you may not defame/flame/trollpost about any member who is not present/active within the forum.
* posts assaulting anyone on race, political/religious belief or sexual orientation are not permitted
* you may not defame/slander any other forum/organisation.
* if asked by member to desist from attacking them whether it be in jest or not you will do so immediately.
* swearing is permitted but will also be monitored.
* if asked to moderate your posting style/edit a post by another member please take heed as this will allow ‘The ********* Club’ to run much smoother
I think you would still have to have certain rules if an "18+" section was added otherwise it would just get out of hand
Swearing in life happends....end of !! we can protect our kids as much as possible whilst we are with them but they proberly hear far worse at school...
Just my thoughts ....

from what you've put there though its just basically a swearing room, surely were all adult enough to kerb our swearing anyway? theres no need for it in this kind of environment. I work in a coal mine and the language is always blue all men together, but as soon as I get out, the swearing stops as I was brought up that its wrong to swear in front of women & children
just my opinion
