Insurance comparisons with other people really aren't useful as every quote is different and depends on so many factors!
Try all the common companies, go on confused and gocompare for example, try playing around with little details such as annual mileage, add your parents as named drivers (if they have clean licences).
I wouldn't recommend a classic-type policy as many of them either don't insure young drivers or don't offer NCB which, as a new driver, you really need!
Also, if you find a cheapish quote on a comparison site, be sure to get a quote direct from the insurer too as they are often even cheaper that way.
Really do your research, get as many quotes as possible, find out what increases and decreases your quote (without lying) and good luck
Edit: Wow. I knew Insurance had been done to death but I didn't know it had its own section these days! That's bad isn't it lol

They quoted me over £2200 for my mini which only has a 1275 engine as a mod. What did you do ? Please share

If it's a standard mini, only mod is a 1275 engine, and you have no accidents, claims, or convictions, ring them back, make sure you are being quoted for classic car insurance, and it should come in a lot better than that.
Jusr re-read that, yes, Peter James can be dear, give Footman James a call.
