someones recommended spax to me before, ill assume theres 10 diffrent types then :)

there doesnt seem to be much diffrent in price of them to be honest

how long do adjustable take to settle? i heard you had to keep adjusting them on and off for a couple of months?

to settle? instantly.

you only need to adjust them until you are happy with the 'ride'

Its the rubber cones/doughnuts that settle.

You only need to adjust the shocks till your happy with how they're performing, which if your like me, may take ages, :D

The dampers do not change the height of the car they purely dampen bumps etc. See previous replies:

Cerberus - As has been said though, the dampers have no effect on ride height. You can put the car down with no dampers on, all they do is damp the suspension.

bmcecosse - The only parts that affect the height are the rubber cones (and possibly the plastic cup if damaged) - the fruit machine lads will know what to do!

Me - The shocks/dampers have nothing to do with the ride height, although it does seem that these have failed to some extent as they are leaking.

me - The rubber springs are what carries the weight of the car, just like a set of coil springs on a modern motor.

in your "what happens when i take teh dampers off"

ibrooks -The shock absorber does not support the car - the springs do that. The shock absorber simply applies a bit of control to the rate at which the spring can expand and compress. The shock won't have any effect on the ride height of the car.

in your topic - "front ends too low"

bungle - shocks don't change the suspension height

I think once you have the parts in your hand and ready to fit it will become more clear.
