From what I’ve got…

Sw5, mild road, 244 inlet / 244 exhaust, power band 1000-6000
Mg metro, fast road, 252 inlet / 268 exhaust, power band 1500-6500

That’s providing it’s a genuine metro cam and not some other standard crap cam being passed off as one.

yeah thats right. The sw5 is a low end mild road cam wheras the MG metro cam is a low end fast road cam which will be pleanty in a 998. the 276 is still better but the lift on a MG Metro cam is pretty poor. it only lifts to 2.5on both whereas the sw5 lifts to 2.8 on both and the 276 lifts to 2.93in and 3.15ex
If its only a rover metro cam not an mg metro cam its only a std road cam and lifts to 2.5 like the MG one but power usage from 1000-5800 and the overlap is abysmall and the overall valve lift gets worse as it goes on.

to be honest overall if you want a good motorway puller get the sw5 if you want something abit more "racey" then get the 276 which will give you a small bore rocket ship when combined with a new head, carb, manifold etc.

If rebuilding get new pistons then send it off to be rebored and with new rings etc. much better and you know whats been done to it.

its a standard cam nothing any good. ):

and yeah im going + 60 or + 40 over bore >_< but gotta see what sort of pistons i want

Flat top or dished top :)

show coming up soon so it be okay

You’ll need to work out the compression ratio carefully then, as just by bolting on a standard 12g940 head onto a standard 998 block raises the compression a bit to start with. So you would have to pick the pistons very carefully or you might end up with too much of a good thing.

Vizard is the bible of the A series.
Just be careful you dont get too carried away into insanley time consuming operations for tiny monicums of power which are unnoticiable and uneeded.

RIPSPEED Gear knob = faser gear changes
Cooper badge = 60 bhp
cooper stripes = 20 bhp
Big Air Filter = 100 bhp

im sure we could come up with a few haha.

On a more serious note mate respect for staying small bore. I love mine and dont want to change cause i love just having a revvy 998 keeping up with the MPI's etc.

You will get the piss taken out of you as i had relentlessly on the Brands Hatch to Nurburgring Run. But the 998 hammered it round the ring overtaking all sorts of things including a scooby impreza. Mods that day included someone writing 9.98 BHP on the back window in window pen which was nice -.-

Turn your sound on and watch this :) Posted Image

Managed to set a time of 10.28 round the ring which in a 998 mini is a pretty good achievement and everyone loved her.

Small bore for the win >_<

Just 998 with twin carbs, stage 3 exhaust manifold, heavily self modified inlet manifold and twin hs2 setup built and modified by me to vizard spec. haha havnt got the the overbore stage yet cause the engines only done 62k and is as lovely as anything. The head is the standard CAM4180 with a little bit of self porting.
cause it belonged to a little old lady who never used it for 25 years then i bought it from her :D

Next on the list is a fully modified head and then a cam but itll have to wait abit.

Thing on the ring is because the suspension and camber etc is setup properly and with decent Yoko tyres you can really chuck her round corners faster than most people dare to in other wallowey saloons.
Trick in the small bore is just to carry speed through all the corners but you lose out bigtime on the 4km straight at the back which is uphill when your doing 60-70 absolute max and the 911 RS3 coms past you at 150+ you feel rather small and inadequate
