My first mini, and of course it will be for my son's 18th (3 years to go) but I will have a go too!!
Bought the mini in September 2009, looked "good", engine started and was ticking over, but could not engage any gears. no brakes. but that was only the beginning.My mate steered the mini into the garage,

and the mini would not come out of there for another year in the end

The 998cc engine project starting in October 2008,............ The clutch was worn and needed replacing, so I decided to do the whole lot, in 3 month,...... I am a bit faster now though!!

after replacing the 3 main bearings in the gearbox as they where shot, all the crank-shaft bearings (Shells), water-pump etc. and a good clean-up, the rebuild started;

and then ready for the bench test one year on, all good!!

Body survey next, it all looks to good to be ok, and then,.. I decided to find out what was wrong with the nearside doorstep,...it dropped a bit. That will be tomorrow!!

Depends on your blue really, the classic ones seem to sit well with the green, maybe not so much the modern blues :thumbsup:

can always change the car color to suit the engine,.......nah will be fine I reckon. Doing the drum brakes at the moment, pain in backside, new cylinders and pipes, all bled and still loose pressure. Yellow band master cylinder had and overhaul,too.

today I collated some initial body survey pictures

Heal board,..... after the subby stayed on the floor while I jacked up the mini, I do wonder sometimes,....

First few cuts in the mini and that was the start of every day 1 hour at it......

I was not wrong,...after loosing the rear subby,... does any one of yuo find the trunnion mounting holes??

found a bit of cake tin
Attached File  DSC00098_edited_double_boot.jpg   12.27K   27 downloads

driver side footwell, new panel welded on top of,.....well 3 other panels,...yep amazing.

That is it for today, I had noticed then that the car was carrying six outer sills,2 triple foot wells, and the boot was still there hanging onto,.. well not much.
Previous owner was a genious in disquising.
