I don't know where you can get a roof rack specifically for a Mini. I used to have one way back and it was so useful. The only problem was if you left it on after moving a big load, it didn't half use a lot more petrol even empty. I once moved a single bed on my 998 Cooper from London to Hitchin complete with the matress - it looked amazing. I thought about stopping for a kip at half-distance.
Have a good 'Google' for one. It does need to be Mini-specific really.

Yeah ive had a look round, the desmo ones on ebay look pretty tasty! I would only be using the roofrack for mini events like l2b this year as mini is daily driver atm :D. Bet it looked comical driving past with that bed on! haha

Just had a thought - I think Paddy Hopkirk used to make roof racks for the original Mini. Worth a 'Google' maybe.

Theres some on ebay but are nowhere near me! and quite expensive. Looks identical to the one in my link above, would you be able to have a look to see if it was similar to what you had?

They are not what I had. Mine was a tubular frame with a base section and sides and front/rear, all done with steel tubes.
I'll have a search tomorrow.

I picked mine up on ebay for £40 i think it was, it was off an old minor, gave it a quick clean up and a spray and addded some wooden slats, jobs a gooddun! that one in your link seems good, and i think i have seen people use them before :)

I had a check around. Wow, the 'proper' ones certainly are expensive for just occassional use.
Yes, Mini Mail may be able to help at a sensible price.
With the cost of petrol you'll certainly want to take it off after use as they do make the car very thirsty.

I used to keep mine on but not now. It does make a supprising difference to fuel consumption and they are quite noisey if left on.

I agree a huge difference in both cases (fuel and noise)!
