My mini is a 1991 mini mayfair. Around two years ago the front end started to bubble and eventually turned in to some quite big holes. Cut a long story short I began to convert the car to a clubby front as I had always had a soft spot for them. I started a project thread during this process which can be found here; Link
Everything was going great, at least until an old women decided to use my mini's boot has her brake ;), this was back in december of 2009. Luckily one of the lads in my club offered to do the neccasary repairs and a full inside and out re-spray.

Half boot floor welded in

It also had a rear valence and two new a-panels however I dont have pictures of these. Next it was time to apply some paint :(

The colour is Nissan Skyline Gun Metal Grey

The engine in it at the moment is a hotted up 998, 12g295 fully worked head, 276 cam, sc drops, lightened flywheel etc. Ive got the head off at the moment because it seems to be smoking oil on start up and when you let off the pedal so its having new valve stem oil seals on the four exhaust valves (not bothering on the inlets,) and all new bronze valve guides. Whilst all thats being done Ive decided that the engine bay is more than due a tidy up. There is wiring all over the place, the bulkhead is still green and it generally looks tatty, plans are to:

remove everything from the bulkhead
remove the engine
drop the fron subframe
paint the bulkhead body colour
paint servo, clutch/brake master cylinders
tidy up wiring (Ive bought some self adhesive felt loom tape)
re-paint the subframe and re-condition/ replace components
put it all back togethor!

Oh, and ive got this to be getting on with as well :(

Its a 56k 1275 sprite engine. Fully stripped it down plans are a 1330 build ;)

Hopefully spec will be:

block bored +60 to 1330cc
21253 high comp +60 pistons
reground, balanced, ni-tempered crank
balanced rods
AC Dodd RS camshaft
Iski lightened cam followers
Belt drive conversion
standard re-built box but with a central oil pick-up pipe and hardened diff pin (maybe x-pin)
3.1 diff
Stage 3/4 head
Single HIF44 or Twin HS4's

Just in the process of finding a good engineering company to carry out the neccasary work to the block, crank and rods. Think im going to use Allard Staffs in Stoke.

Nice Mini!! I would put the valve stem seals on the inlets. I think thats probably what you meant anyway, but thought Id mention it. In fact Id put them on all eight.

Sorry, yes that is what I ment. Think there are mixed reviews as to using them on all eight, surely on the exhaust valves they would just get hot and brittle and then not work?, so I wasnt sure.

Thankyou, yeah there arent many gun metal clubbies about. I went with the colour because I thought it would best suit the carbon bonnet.

Andymini12, the arches are group 5 euro and have to be modified to fit the clubby front. Quite hard to get hold of now I think.
