"So a little raiding of the Ford spare catalog and a bit of alloy machining and a custom rubber surround later and I had one very trick looks set of air vent 100% in keeping with the anodized alloy dash. "
must be from a ford!

Just a warning, They are about 8mm to small to fit in a stock mini air vent hole in a rover type dash.
So you will have to make or have made a surround to hold them, but they do look trick when done

Yea, i really like the look, I got a carbonfibre dash so that would look sweet with the vents.

I love the attention to detail, especially with the trimming of the panels, where it would of been so much easier to use a more forgiving material such as carpet
How do you find it with the RDAT mounted so low? (visibility etc)
I used to love my EPX2 back when I competed (SQ competition is a dead language here in NZ) as there was nothing else I could source to facilitate a 3 way active front end with the adjustable crossover ability, unfortunately it packed a sad and I could find no one in the country to successfully repair it so I envy you very much

Hi and thanks for the complements, to me it's all about the details. The dash for example had 5 revisions before I was happy, and my next step is to build door caps to hold the tweeters with phase liner mids going where the tweeters currently are, soback to 3 way front.
The EPX 2 is an awesome unit, considering that it was designed in 94!! I mean a unit with 7 active outputs even now there's only a handful of units that get close. But they do have there problems, the high noise floor is a pain as is the lack of adjustability on the crossover slope. 12db just does not cut it anymore, the alpine h702 can be set to 30db per octave! That's like a Brick wall!!
But on the other hand with the Rockford badged Denon headunit I can and do run a balanced line straight out of the unit to the EPX, so a nice clean signal and no messing about with long RCA's.
Oh and the RDAT is on heavy duty Velcro, so it comes off with ease and can be adjusted in hand with me in the correct listening postion or for RTA setup outside of the car completely.

Oh and by the way to make you even more green eyed, I currently have three EXP2's !!
One in the mini and two other 'spare' only 2 of them have the E28 card though and I'm still looking for a DEQ card...
Although I keep thinking about dumping the Denon/EPX and going for a Pioneer P99RS and do everything in one unit!!
