Those two big holes arnt?!

LOL well yes but i mean i want to be able to change it.. The holes are there now but it can easily drill out 8 rivets and bang something else in.

I really don't see the problem, It’s a solid mechanical connection that will pass load across the steel bowl. Not that there is really is much load in that area anyway.

It’s not like I used silicon and duct tape..!

Yeh its a mechanical connecton, but only about a 1/10th of what was there.

You would be supprised how much load is there.

thanks for the sub box photos ruckus.. it's similar to mine, except I made my box first, and am laying the glass onto the box in a shape that fits over the wheel arch.. some photos in the link - wont let me attach them unforunately...

http://forum.minidri...;pid=953#pid953

I haven't actually laid any glass yet, just some fleece with resin, will do the glass soon when I get some time to spend in the garage!

@ Ruckus :

Just saw this topic for the first time... and although this is some of the best work I've ever seen, I really don't like you very much right now...

Only yesterday I finalized my " TO DO " list... proposed budgets per activity and everything...and now, I see this this...all my hard work and planning shot to $*%#, sorry, I mean pieces...

Awesome work, very well executed !

Will follow this religiously from now on.

Time for the first major change.

The Rockford RFQ Mids where amazing but not in the way I’m looking for in this system.
They are clear and VERY VERY loud, although rated at 140rms they happily had 200rms for some time, but they were/are just too clinical.
They lacked warmth, many would not even hear what I’m on about but I did and it bugged me.

I had a set of these from the system I used in my Honda for competition a few years ago, but one seemed to have died.

But after a chat with Focal France I found the dead unit could quite easily be fixed, which I did and bingo and prefect pair again!
But they are yellow :( and everything else in the system is silver or black.
I spoke to a very good local paint guy and he can up with a solution and mixed me a can of paint to use which would be safe on the Kevlar cone and thin enough not to taint the sound too much.

So after a colour change which involved removed the phase plug and half of the magnet (gulp) they went in the car.

:( I do like things to match…

But the balance between the mids and tweeter was still not right thou as the ScanSpeak tweeter are on a different level efficiency wise.
So due to the flexibility on the EXP2 processor I can attenuate a set of channels over and above the EQ settings.
So I have now got the tweeters on a -6db attenuation with the mids flat and the sub +3db.

And you know…. I really like the sound now :)

I’ve also finished the boot install with covers that fit very tightly over the viewing panels in the boot board.

The only two thing to do now are to install a Xbox with a DC to DC PSU which I have to make! And the door caps… with mids in them to go back to a 3way system!
