just finished mine, got some lovely coach enamel from turners trade paints,
rollered it on with lots of flatting in between coats.
I did all the sanding and final flatting by hand, talk about elbow grease!!!
Anyway here's a pic attached of where I am with it now....
next time I'll pay out for a proper orbital unit to save time and effort but overall I've paid less than £100 and it's way better than before....
good luck!

Glad u like it!!!
High density foam rollers, keep changing them after a coat.
And I had the undercoat mixed with the same pigments as the top coat for depth.
After all the work though I must recomend better tools as days of wet sanding just slooooowed me down.
After the final coat I went progresivley down to 3000 grit and then very cheap rubbing compound as the G3 stuff was way outa my price range (no job).
Then some autoglym polish (again by hand and twice).

Oh and for the tricky to roll areas I used a bag of make up application foam sponges from poundland.
They are cut into triangles and they dont melt like cheap rollers so I can paint every where without those pesky brush marks....and then before it skins off I roller over the edge of what I've painted so the paint flows nice but doesnt run.

Kinda weird to explain but its best to practise so you can load the paint without sags or runs fro using too much for it to flow right.
Lot's of cheap ways to paint but 80 -90% is the prep...
