They don't make the RC50 any more.
Until 99 Mini Spares marketed the stainless version of their RC40 exhaust as the RC50. It was just a name for the all stainless version (as in stainless pipes, through pipes, boxes and stainless steel wool wadding), that's all.
Then in 2000 they redid the whole RC40 range as the RC40 Millenium, ditched the RC50 name and just made stainless an option along with all the other new options.
Until recently I still had the '99 Minispares accessory brochure that I could have scanned but I can't find it now.
If other traders are still calling it the RC50 in their catalogues then it's either old stock or they just haven't bothered changing the name.
(just read the link that Jammy put up and this has all been said before :nugget: )

lets step this back to circa 95. There was at that time only two RC40 exhausts, the single box and the twin box both with the 1 7/8 tail pipe in chrome, side exit. The stainless systems logicaly named the RC50 is the same design system made by the same manufacturer, Competion Scilencers, to which Mini Spares Center were the outlet. It is a brand name by the manufacturer to identify mild from stainless. And it cost twice the price.
expensive stainless exhaust was an exotic part at that time. PlayMini brought out thier stainless backbox with the 2 1/8 rolled end tail pipe which was bling and the thing to have. This was the start of the stainless exhaust boom. (excuse the pun)
Mini Spares in thier wisdom merged Competition Scilencers and changing its products ( id suspect circa 2000) giving all of them the same brand name irrespective of its design And while they were at it the dropped the RC50( tell some one you got an RC40 or RC50 back in mid 90's they knew what you got. Now, it could be anything) Also worth noting is that the rolled end was first seen on the PlayMini backbox
As for why Moss are asking 30 quid more, well, I've always found them to be expensive( a bit like MiniSport), but also you will find that it is actualy supplied by Mini Spares Center. RC40/50 is competition scilencers and competion scielencers are Mini Spares Center

I was jokin anyway  I have got a stainless steel 1 7/8" Scorpion full system for mine (with a Maniflow LCB up front), which is different as I have never heard any reviews about the Scorpion systems on a mini (only on other cars).
When it is all up and running I will have to do a review of it (whenever that is).
Dunno how chavvy it's gonna sound, but is is very good build quality and it was a likkle bargain, so I bought it.

I think the general consensus is that rc40 are the daddy and if you want a bit more show and a less go than an rc40 then playmini is the way to go.
Not saying they are bad but not as good as an rc40!!
Also i read a thread on here that they are not a great build quality.

Playmini.... PLAYMINI... sums it up... PLAY and MINI... ok if you want to play mini, but if you want an exhaust which is going to be of some use to the engine..
RC40 or Maniflow ...
IMO

well mine is a sensible bore (at 1 7/8") but it does have a 3.5" tail pipe on it, it actually looks OK though.
