Mine is used daily. And (touch wood) is starting to behave itself. When it does break it is usualy to do with something I've done wrong.
Recently drove it 5 monthes without issue until the head gasket let go, due to running lean on the wrong carb I put on.

It's a 1380cc 1985 aswell.

I've had a classic as my everyday car since I started driving. First a 1989 Mini and now a 1975 Viva. Also have another '75 Viva so the Mini is my youngest car by some 14 years, but is still a few months older than me.

I use my 1977 rally look mini as my daily driver and it's been fine for the past 2 years with no major problems.

alought the old mini has more room inside...not sure how tho lmao

Because the newer Mini isn't nearly as well packaged and space efficient inside as an old one.

My mpi is my daily, she's a 2001 and she's let me down 2001 times ;) serviced regularly i always get little things going on it and recently the gearbox went, clogged my oil pump up and so the engine followed, just shows how much better the earlier minis are from what everybody has wrote above.

Ouch! You must have been pretty unlucky! I am the owner of a 1998 Cooper which is my daily drive, and it rarely lets me down. Very reliable! Though it has some odd noises here and there, but other than that it is a cracker ;)
Only negative point is that the second gear is a bit crunchy :)

My 1977 mini was meant to be driven everyday, so I use it as my daily driver. One thing I felt I needed to change was the drum brakes to discs, as I was worried I may rear end someone!
