Is this still for sale?

You mention that it needs trailering for an above reason, but there isnt a reason, unless thats a typo??

thanks.

Yes the car is still for sale.

In the first post I said

Engine Starts first time and runs, however I have had an issue with the car over fuelling and not running right since the last MOT. Car pulls away but coughs and splutters. Occasionally you get a slight backfire in the inlet manifold

As soon as you place any load on the engine in reverse or in forward gear the car splutters and coughs and stalls. I think its a senor related issue but I am trying to borrow a code reader to rule this out.

I am heavily interested in this car as a little project, on a scale of 1 to 10, how bad is the rust in general? 1 being replacement of most items 5 being a few weekends worth of a spruce up and 10 being immaculate. From what I see, the drivers side wheel arch has a bit of rust, so any comments on that mate would be good.

As for the engine, I take it that it has got worse over the time then?

Thanks

The drivers side wheel arch is fine. The front end was replaced with Rover Panels around 3 years ago.

The rear arches will need replaced. So that is a 2 or 3 They rusty bits have veen cut out and plates placed over the top to get it throu the MOT. However they will need replaced as a perminate fixture.

The only other rustyish bit I know of is the bonnet which is rusty along the lip , and a little squint. I was going to replace with a Fiberglass one but not had the time or £££

As far as the engine goes. Last night I stripped the left hand side down and checked the timming gears on the crank and the cam. Both look good and set correctly. However the car is stilll being lump and popping. I am going to try the fuel filter when I get a chance this weekend. This issue only started to occour around Feb. So I am thinking it might be the fuel filter after sitting for a few months doing nothing.

Trouble is the Road Tax runs out at the end of the Month. If the car is not sold by then I will get it moved to my garage and decide to break for spares or continue to try and diagnose.
