And here are some of the measurements we took

Liam

With only 1mm difference (possibly measurement variation?) and a full front end crunch like that, You've done incredably well. Build looks great so far :D

Starting work on a 1972 clubman estate and you seem to be doing really well with yours so far, just wondering how easy you are finding it to locate parts and whatnot? Have a huge list to find and need some hope haha!

Some parts are a little harder to find for the estates and as a result are a bit more expensive but you can still source most parts ( eBay is your friend).
Panel wise for any Mini which isn't a roundnose saloon, M Machine is the place to go.

What is it you need?

TheMatts just posted a huge wanted list in the Wanted section for me (damn post counts)
Somerfords seems to be the best place from PapaBs research, just getting around to putting him (Stitch, not my dad) on his side to really have a look. So much to do! Keeping an eye on your build thread as giving me a little bit of hope that even though mines a big project it's manageable haha!

Yeah found it today. Looking good, already got the front panel and wing on, have you got any plans for it or is it going back to how it was?
I know what you mean, mines been off the road for around around 9 mounths. I much prefer my estate to the flame.

Hi yeah i got the wing for xmas was out there on boxing day welding it on and i sourced all the other panels from ebay, new valance, headlight panel, and wing, had to pull the inner wing out. For some reason when the wing was off the car was in very good condtion like under the scuttle and that, so was well chuffed. all original by the looks of it.

Ermm plans are to turn it into a van, and paint it back white with a black roof, keep the interior retro simple inside, and some nice 10' wider wheels, nothing major just a nice tidy referb really. cannot wait to have it back on the road lol

yours is looking very nice. :)

I know I have more important things I should be getting on with but once I had this idea I just had to do it.

This was my original drawing of how I imagined it to look, mk1 styling. The door pockets will house my speakers. I also intent to make my own armrests.
What do you think?

If you dont somehow work some cup holders in to those door pockets then you are a fool! Their very cool though. What are they made out of then? Wood and fiberglass?

Just fiberglass, used the MDF to make a mould. I did think of adding a cup holder but then I again I never eat or drink in the car nor will anyone else :mmkay: so didn't bother.

You should make a few a sell them. Some of these people that go for mk1 lookalike I'm sure would buy them off you.

Worth a go I guess might see if there is enough interest first. I would have to change a few things to make them exactly like the mk1's.
Could also do a few options like with or without cup holders, speaker holes etc...

It isn't fixed at the moment, I just held it in place using the bit of MDF in the pictures to see how it looked.
I'm going to bond them to my doors, but if I did make some to sell I would change it so that they screw in as I'm sure most people wouldn't want such a permanent fix.

You could cut out small recesses & bond some washers in so it gives the area the screw goes through more strength. Have you checked the clearence for the seats with them in place?
